I honestly do not know, but I do know that SKE has stopped flying and the question is which one is to be deleased...According to past sources I've read, it's the first 5 A380's, obviously SKA-SKE.

It might be undergoing maintenance, but the refit is a good question, weren't they supposed to start the refits later this year?

      1. Just wondering, with SQ's outstanding orders, won't it run out of registration numbers to register the new aircraft with?

      2. Can SQ 'recycle' old registration names?

      3. Do those old 72As and 73As that have 2006 Y seats also have 2006-era IFE (rather than 2001 which are characteristic of the 'refurbished' Y seats)?

There is 17576 combinations of 9V-AAA through to 9V-ZZZ and under 250 aircraft registered in Singapore. Also they do reuse old registrations. 9V-SCA was a Singapore Cargo 747-400 now its used on a 787.

The A359 SM* series registrations were used previously for 747s. 9V-STE has progressed from being an A300 to an A310 to an A330 and is now available again. The SK* series was once used for 747s before the A380s.

Yes, the 2006 Y seats also brought with them upgraded IFE to those old 777s.

            • Is it the first time Airbus is more than Boeing in SQ fleet?

              Comment

              • From results briefing:

As at 31 March 2018, the operating fleet of the Parent Airline Company comprised 107 passenger aircraft (48 777s, 21 A330-300s, 17 A380-800s and 21 A350-900s), with an average age of 7 years and 4 months. In addition, the Parent Airline Company received the world’s first 787-10 from Boeing in the quarter, featuring new regional cabin products, which entered into commercial service during April 2018.

During the 2018/19 financial year, the Parent Airline Company expects to take delivery of seven 787-10s, three A380-800s, seven A350-900ULRs, and four A350-900s in regional configuration. All the aircraft, apart from one A350-900, are planned to enter into service by 31 March 2019. In addition, five 777-200ERs, four A330-300s, one 777-200 and one A380-800 are intended for removal from the operating fleet. Including the first 787-10, the total operating fleet of the Parent Airline Company is expected to grow to 117 aircraft by the end of the financial year. Capacity for FY2018/19 is projected to increase by 5%.

                • Observations:

                  1. SQ's official fleet count was 107 vs FSJZ's 109 as at end March. The difference is SCA not included in the fleet yet and one less 777. That 777 has to be SQK as SQ also said this:
During the January-March 2018 quarter, one A350-900 and one A380-800 entered into service at the Parent Airline Company. One 777-200 was removed from operations in preparation for lease to NokScoot, while one A330-300, one 777-200 and one 777-200ER were taken out of service for retirement from SIA’s fleet.
That's SMU and SKV in; and SRL, STF, a mystery 777-200 and SVL out. The only 777-200 grounded at end March was SQK. So it is official: SQK out.

                  2. SKM and SYJ, while out of action, have not and will not leave the fleet anytime soon.

                  3. We will be still left with 3 777-200ERs (poor IST??), 7 777-200s and all 5 777-300s still flying at end March 2019!! And 17 A330-300s. This despite getting 8 787-10s and 4 regional A350-900s. That's a lot of regional capacity. Maybe because the 77Ws won't be able to help out much in the regional routes as they have to backup the A380s being refitted.

I guess 9V-SVE just barely missed making it onto this list since her last revenue flight was SQ175|03APR.

                    • i believe SVL was leased out to AirNZ? Which suggests that the "777-200ER removed" should be SVE.

Does the 1x A380 refer to SKE (as at end 31 March?) since SKE flew until 23 April. I doubt it's SKM right? SKM doesn't fit the bill for an A380 to be retired.

                      5x 777-200ERs should be
SVG / SVI / SVJ / SVM / SVN (while SVL remains leased out to AirNZ)
going by the logic that they invested in refurbishing SVB/SVC (despite them being the oldest!). Quite clearly the 772ERs don't have any future use.

1x 777-200 .... this is anybody's guess, but going by age... SQJ seems the most likely candidate.

A330s... tough call...i'd be surprised if they kept the older STA-STC and removed the later ones first.

No, the list is a list of active aircraft, not a list of aircraft owned. SVL was withdrawn before March 31, even if it remained as an SQ owned aircraft available for leases to others. It is the same treatment as the one for SRL.

Could be any 4 of A, B, C, O, Q, R. Planespotters has STB and STO earmarked to be handed to another airline. STT onwards are part of a newer batch of leases and are likely to be the last to leave.

Yes. To those 777s which got the 2006 Y seats, the seats also brought the IFE system with them. The OP was asking for a clarification as to whether the two things were connected, which they are.

ok, checking again... SVL was under BCC for awhile. so yeah, it left SQ's books. i was given the impression it was still SQ owned and merely leased out to AirNZ.

so yea, SVE + 4/5 of the SVG/I/J/M/N set.

                              • According to iCargo, BLR is going to be served by a 77W (SWI) off SQ805 instead of the regular 773 or 772. Typically India routes (except DEL and BOM) usually get the 772 or 773 in addition to the A330.

Has BLR ever been served by the 77W before?
