  • Fleet plan for current fiscal year, from the results briefing:

"During the January-March 2016 quarter, the Parent Airline Company took delivery of its first A350-900, and removed two 777-200ERs and two A330-300s from service in preparation for lease return. As at 31 March 2016, the operating fleet of the Parent Airline Company comprised 102 passenger aircraft (54 777s, 28 A330-300s, 19 A380-800s and one A350-900), with an average age of 7 years and 5 months.

In the 2016-17 financial year, the Parent Airline Company expects to take delivery of 13 A350-900s, of which 12 are planned to enter into service by March 2017. Four A330-300s and one 777-300 are planned to be returned to lessors. This will bring the Parent Airline Company’s total operating fleet to 109 aircraft by the end of the financial year. Capacity for FY2016-17 is expected to be flat year-on-year, however, due to ongoing aircraft cabin upgrade programmes."

So their tally of 54 777s matches exactly the tally of 54 in the latest list in this thread. We are down by one A330 because FSJZ removed STN in April. This means we are expecting another 773 to go and three more A330s.

I'm betting on SYL to be the leased 773 but I have no evidence of this- only that it is after SYK which was also leased and that it undertook an SQ8877 flight. The A330s are tough to predict because every single one of them is leased.

What this does mean though, is that every one of the current 772s are going nowhere between now and March '17. SRJ, SRL, SVF- all our retro-purple friends are here to stay!

Other then finishing off the 77W upgrades and rolling out the GX Aviation WIFI (which I wouldn't think would take long to install on each aircraft) is there any other major upgrade taking place.
Seems they will need to pull a lot more aircraft offline for upgrades to compensate for increase capacity of the A350's if only 5 aircraft are been retired.

I think they are looking at the total number of seats available in 2016/7 vs 2015/6. So not all A350s will be counted for the full year. Also, A350s have fewer seats compared to the A330s, and definitely the B773. Finally, total number of seats are being reduced with the installation of PE seats.

Yup, which is why I hope that they upgrade the IFE on the old 772ERs and 773s with the ones taken from the 77Ws. Not looking forward to my FCO-SIN trip in June.

How long would you think it would take for them to install GX Aviation Wifi? Also, was planning to ask about if the Panasonic Voyageur maps would be installed on the 77WN with new seats already?

Have to agree with you. In June/July I have MEL-ZRH/CPH-MEL booked. Out of the four sectors, only ZRH won't be an old SV* series 772. MEL lost the A330 off SQ207/8 and got the 772ER and CPH failed to be selected for the A359 in 2016. And these old relics aren't going anywhere anytime soon.

AMS got lucky and went A359, CPT/JNB will get 77WR. CPH and FCO are now left as the last 11+ hour flights using this incredibly old product.

The one advantage that a 772 has over an A330 performing SQ208 is that the A330 arrived into SIN around 30 min late every night and the 772 is now arriving around 30 min early. Kind of critical if making a connection when the flight arrives at 0015.

Crossing my fingers SVI turns out to be retrofitted with ex-77W gear when it returns to the skies and then also happens to be the plane that I get for all three 772 sectors. I can dream...

It would seem so as they are flying mostly to PEY destinations.

I believe SKD may currently be undergoing wing repairs and that SKP may be currently undergoing PEY installation, based on flight records over the last fortnight.

Also, anyone who has an upcoming 773 flight and may encounter SYH- is this the second refitted IFE/interior joining SYI or is it still the old one? It was out of service for quite a while.

                        • Unlikely - SWR was out for just under three weeks. Previous 77WR refits have taken six weeks.

No I don't think so, otherwise it would have also performed a test flight as SQ8877. No test flight or a different test flight number means some maintenance!

                            • Well it seems like the 77WR programme is on a temporary hiatus. We have not seen a refit being rolled out for quite some time now.

Yeah man. It seems like SIA will not be able to meet their announced deadline to complete the programme by September 2016.
