  • Taking SQ326 and connecting to SQ26?

    Hi all,

Sorry if this has been discussed, I did a quick search and couldn't come up with anything. Am looking to book a flight from SIN-JFK and had a question about the connection between the above 2 flights? SQ26 award is unavailable for the dates I am looking for, but SQ326 and SQ26 as separate flights are available. Given that the layover time in FRA is almost 12 hours, I was wondering if this is treated as a transit in that we would have to stay within the transit area of the airport, or if we would be able to collect our baggage, check-in to an airport hotel to sleep and then re-check in for SQ26 the following morning?

    Thanks a lot

I'd go out and come back in... 12 hours is plenty of time to go out/come back in FRA!

    I've even done a '3 hour visit' here -

Assuming you don't need a visa to get into the Schengen zone - then yes, of course. You just ask to be short checked to FRA. Pick up your bags, head to a hotel, and recheck in the next day.

Thank you for your replies! I wasn't 100% sure if it would be ticketed as a transit with the bags going all the way through to JFK, so wanted to check whether we'd be able to leave the airport before going ahead and booking. Wouldn't want the nasty surprise of finding out we had to stay in the transit area for 12 hours!

Thanks again, answers my question perfectly

          Hi Arrow29,

Just want to ask if you manage to clear the immigration in FRA and checked into a hotel? Do you need to retrieve your luggages from SQ326 or they will be tag all the way to JFK?

I have the same flight arrangement in Oct'15 and tried to ask SQ if I can check out from the airport. However, they are not sure about this.

          Thanks!

If you don't need a visa to go to the schengen zone - you can just walk out the airport after clearing immigration and customs.
