very strange that SQ did not mention its B787s which should be arriving in abt 24 mths or less - and ahead of its A350s which is not even ready for its first test flight

No. The Android based eX3 is currently not being used by any airline and SIA will be the launch customer of this product as stated in the OP's link.

Singapore Airlines will be début Panasonic’s new IFE system – the EX3 on-board its aircraft.

Etihad Airways has also stated it will use the eX3 on its A350's.
