I haven't even had the opportunity to fly an -SV* bird in a good 3 years. How many are left in the fleet?

Flight24 currently shows no flights for SVA, SVD, SVF, and SVG, so there seems to be 11 left.

Both CHC (SQ297/298) and AKL (only on SQ281/282) has been getting the SV* series 772ER birds, for a couple of months now - at least according FR24. Of course AKL also gets the daily 77W as SQ285/286.

          77W 'back' to AMS...

According to airlineroute AMS is to get 77W four times a week, starting next week!. Not seen anything from SQ about this :

Singapore Airlines from 31MAR14 will once again introduces Boeing 777-300ER aircraft operation on Singapore – Amsterdam route. The -300ER aircraft will operate on 4 of 7 weekly, instead of -200ER.

          SQ324 SIN2355 – 0710+1AMS 77W x357
          SQ324 SIN2355 – 0710+1AMS 772 357

          SQ323 AMS1115 – 0550+1SIN 772 146
          SQ323 AMS1115 – 0550+1SIN 77W x146

Further messing around with AMS (must be SQ's northern hemisphere MEL...) and the 77W. From next month for a few weeks four of the weekly flights go 77W then it is supposed to go all 77W in May.

Lets see if they stick to it this time...

Singapore Airlines from 10FEB15 is adjusting operational aircraft on Singapore – Amsterdam route. From this date, Boeing 777-300ER aircraft will be operating on 4 of 7 weekly flights, instead of 30MAR15 that was reported on Airline Route on 06JAN15. Planned daily 777-300ER operation from 01MAY15 remains unchanged.

The following schedule is effective from 10FEB15 to 28MAR15.

              SQ324 SIN2355 – 0645+1AMS 77W x357
              SQ324 SIN2355 – 0645+1AMS 772 357

              SQ323 AMS1030 – 0555+1SIN 77W x146
              SQ323 AMS1030 – 0555+1SIN 772 146

Hmmm, isn't this now the FOURTH time they have announced a transition to 77W for AMS???

And it's about time given they have added four 77W to the fleet with a fifth due shortly. With the way the keep pulling the 77W off AMS it would suggest the F market isn't exactly robust on the route, but it's never going to establish itself if it keeps disappearing.

Something like that. Any regular travellers on AMS-MEL vv have probably lost the will to live over what aircraft they will be flying.

2.5 years ago I posted on another thread wondering if AMS would suffer similar treatment like MEL was going through in late 2011/early 2012. Seems like my prediction is now somewhat prophetic... (at least AMS shouldn't get the oldest aircraft in the fleet I would hope)

Incidentally, back then AMS was getting some aircraft that were originally for MEL IIRC.

                      It's not the same situation.

AMS is being offered a consistent J product. The type of bird doesn't matter.

in fact, I am still more anxious about MEL. The 9pm flight can easily be substituted with the 2-2-2 layout.

Might be one of the days the 777-200ER is operating. 77W doesn't go daily till May. Or maybe it's to avoid any disappointment in case of an equipment swap.

As posted by MAN Flyer in #51, AMS gets a mixture of 77W and 772ER in March.

11K is just as good on both aircrafts.

I am not sure how I will get disappointed if there is such substitution. It's the same product inside.

Ok fine, may be in Y, it's probably slightly less. But how different is Y across all plane types. It's 9-across vs it's 9-across.

the only way i get disappointed is if I am booked in F, and then F is removed. In this situation, i will be insisting on a rerouting via FRA/MUC or a full refund. I don't think they will force you to downgrade with no compensation.
