That hasnt been any reports, but my parents were delayed in LHR for 12 hours on QF10 on Saturday (LHR-SIN-MEL) because an baggage handler drove a baggage trailer into the side of an engine.

Not having much luck the A380's

Qantas's 380 seems to be a magnet for problems. Hope your parents will be well taken care of by Qantas.

Not just their 380s. QF itself is a magnet for problems

Looks like SQ346/345 will be subbed by a 77W for 24-26/01.

Affected flights at this stage will include SQ346 from Singapore to Zurich and SQ345 from Zurich to Singapore, on 24, 25 and 26 January 2012. Flights over these three days will be operated with Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. There is no change to scheduled departure and arrival times.

Two of Emirates A380s' also have some cracks on their wing spar n these planes are newer than SQ's n Qantas and AB attributed to "manufacturing defects" - however that likely meant that these "defects" have not been detected since the 1st A380 came out as Emirates ones are more "Younger". However any minor cracks in the wings ribs no matter how small or are always a concern as the wings are the major critical structures on the plane.

SQ345/346 is currently operated by A38E, to my understanding, there are only 4 Whale-jets that is all Biz class on upper deck, so that mean, all the newbies have to be check, on my recent SQ321 by 9V-SKN, the whole interior was sparkling clean & new, one of the stewardess told me, SKN is the newest A380 fleet in the SQ family.

                  Nada.

Only aircraft with >1300 cycles have to be checked. Based on SQ's current utilisation, only the first 10 388s will probably be affected. The UD J 388s are far from 1300 cycles.

The 38Es are probably being used to sub the 388s on the other sectors.

Curious then why they picked ZRH to downsize, if it's not the A38Es they need to inspect most. I thought ZRH always had strong loadings too. LHR or SYD would have allowed them to absorb any excess passengers onto other flights on the same day. Perhaps LHR flights are all completely full every day?

SQ318's smoke alarm was set off this afternoon and the aircraft parked at A4. This can happen on any aircraft but thought it was worth noting here.
