I've been reading in forums that the Indian authorities won't let foreign carriers fly the A380 to India before one of their own airlines fly one.
Ha! So far their only airline that has placed order is struggling to keep flying.

Just heard this from reliable source:
By next year March, A380 got clearance from China authorities to land in Shanghai! Apparently SIA did not get the land permit for Beijing.
HEard too when the next 5 A380 comes in by Sep 12, all the Londons, Sydneys and Melbournes will be taken over by the big bird...

I sure hope Kingfisher survives the ordeal though

That's the best news SQ fans in Melbourne have had for a long time- I sure hope it comes true. Thanks for the tip!

Doubt so. That will be too much capacity.

I know it means I can't redeem business or first on this route, but can I buy economy and upgrade using miles?
I can't get my head around it.
Thanks
It's US$40 per 1000 miles through SQ.
SPG is offering US$140 per 5000 points which transfers 1:1 to SQ.

and if you transfer 20,000 pts in a single transaction, SPG gives you another 5,000 miles for free. i'd buy more, if not for the annual cap

You can. But you need a flexi ticket (which is the highest-priced) and you upgrade at "standard" rates (double that of saver rates) and only with KF miles.
You can also redeem business class using KF miles at "standard" rates. But no first class.

If my jet lagged memory is correct, you can now do it for Suites but at a ridiculous amount of miles.
