  • SQ to send 744's to Jakarta!

Singapore Airlines Cargo has added Jakarta to its freighter network and increased its weekly frequencies to Auckland, Shanghai, Sydney and Xiamen.

The new once-weekly Boeing 747-400 freighter service to Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, commenced last week. The new freighter service will be increased to twice weekly from Northern Winter 2011.

The freighter service to Jakarta complements the belly-hold space available on Singapore Airlines’ 49 weekly passenger flights between Singapore and Jakarta. From today (15 September), this will be increased to 56 flights per week.

Indonesia is a major exporter of garments, footwear, food products, machinery and electronic devices between Jakarta, Singapore and the rest of the world. The additional freight capacity will provide shippers more choices and faster movement of their cargo to markets around the world.
    Sorry, couldn't resist....

    Yeah, you got me.
Thought they have changed my favorite flight SQ953 (now SQ955) back to 744 after several years absence from the timetable.

Thanks MAN Flyer. My 2-and-a-half-second dream of reliving the SkySuites experience dashed

I see what you did there
I really thought this was legit. Although I still prefer the B777 for the CGK sector though

Getting back to reality, does CGK have a lot of cargo load? My stint in Freight Ops a couple of years back saw a rather large number of cargo tagging pax runs. And most of the freight were moving with impex agencies who were using Indo carriers.

This is just so wrong although technically the title is correct.

For a moment there I thought I could fly on a 744 again on a short regional route. The last time I did SQ's 744 on the Sin - Cgk - Sin was back in 2001 / 2002 when SQ still used the Givenchy cradle seats in a class called RAFFLES.

Wow, long time ago. I was fortunate to have an equipment swap towards the end of the then 2-class A345 services to CGK, maybe 4-5 years ago. So a regular J seat became 4F.
