  • Schedule Change - When Does SQ Inform Passengers?

I have an upcoming trip SIN-MXP-SIN.
Return flight MXP-SIN is SQ 367.

Originally, the departure time is 1100hrs. But when I just tried to do a dummy booking to check the flight load, I was surprised to see the change in departure timing to 1155hrs.

Though it ain't much of a difference but shouldn't SQ inform confirmed passengers about the schedule change the moment they effect a permanent change in schedule?

I had called up the Krisflyer hotline and was told that the change was effected on 23 Aug and passengers would receive a notification but she is unsure when I would be informed. My SIN-MXP departure is on 8 Sep, a week to go and I am not exactly happy that I wasn't informed of this change before my outgoing sector when in fact, they had 8 days (since 23 Aug) and counting to inform ALL passengers!.

IME, the SQ SMS alerts for seasonal schedule changes will do so at least several months in advance.

I got an SMS alert last year when they changed the times of an SQ flight. It was only changed by 10 minutes.

They used to sms pax (up to a few months back).

But these days, I think they no longer do so. There has been many schedule changes on our flights but no more notifications from them.

I received a phone call from the SIA call centre yesterday regarding an equipment change and a schedule change for my flights in December and January respectively.

After which I've also received confirmation of the changes via email. Both my flights are redemption bookings and I'm just a Krisflyer blue member.

Seems like different people have different experiences... hmmmm

SQueeze: I just got an sms this morning about a 20mins re-timing for a flight I've got a waitlist on. For next year! (so they do still sms)

Based on the above, it seems to me they are the industry's leader in schedule change notification then - the other way around. They will inform passengers whose dates are farthest and NOT notify passengers whose dates are closest.

They still do SMS. I got couple of SMS for my flights but they seem rather random IMHO. Anyway, I learnt to monitor via TripIT and my nifty iPhone app flighttrack. When the timing changed, the app will change colour so that is signal for me to check
