  • Bringing water on board for Infants

Does anyone knows if it is possible to bring plain water on board for infants? The elderly at home forbade us from using mineral or even distilled water for our infant and gave no illusion about the amount of displeasure that would happen if we disobeyed their advise.

I guess Chinese families with kids might understand the problems I'm facing now with plenty of rules for infants...

I could probably get the crew to boil some water and pass it to me before we take off, but I'm not sure if it could cool in time for my infant. Hence I was thinking a more logical approach is to boil some water at home, cool it, and bring it to the Airport. Probably we could have it less than 100ml, but even than, I'm not sure if it would cross security.

Has anyone tried something like this? Let me know. Cheers.

Based on the above info, I don't see any problems. Where is the other departing airport?

I have had no personal experience myself. I'm sure 9V-JKL and SuperJonJon would be able to offer more accurate advice.

My friends have had no issues with bringing water/milk for their babies but that's in Europe.

No problem bringing a thermos flask of >100ml onboard. Done it ex-sin, hkg, pvg, syd, Mel. Security will let u thru. No worries, enjoy the flights.

I know someone who froze a litre of water and took it though security at MAN then it defrosted quickly and then they drunk it.

The security let it through as technically it wasnt a liquid.

Err.. I know this sounds stupid but this is larger than 100ml / smaller than 100ml? Somehow I always got confused by it...

The sign above (>) signify "More than", this sign (<) signify "Less than".

So only <100ml of liquid allowed onboard.

But nowadays, most Changi Airport T3 gates have water coolers, so after passing security, you can still refill your water before boarding the aircraft.

it has to be cooled down boiled water, then mixed with a bit of hot water to be warm, mix with milk formula powder...... you cannot have water from the coolers!....

                      Hi phaleesy,

The other Airports are going to be BKK, TPE and probably ICN...

Yeah, we didn't have any issues bringing the thermos with the hot water or the milk bottles with cool water. All of them were above 100ml and they were not in ziplock bags.

To clarify on my >100ml statement.

We fly with a filled 400ml thermos flask of hot water + another 2x200ml of room temp water in another 2 bottles. Travelling with infants gives you a waiver on the 100ml rule. Just make sure you and the baby go thru security together.

Don't just think onboard. Consider also your journey time from airport to final destination. Also when you get to your final destination, how soon can you get hot/cooled water for your little one. Work backwards and bring enough. Babies have no tolerance for waiting for milk when hungry...

                              Like SJJ, no ziplock bag.

Don't worry so much inix, enjoy the flights. On SQ, we have been well looked after when the little one travels with us and I'm sure you will be as well.

hiaz.... the days of having the whole bassinet row will be gone in a month's time....I'll have to pay for a seat now.........
