  • London Based Fares Surge Overnight

I was looking yesterday at many different dates for C and F/R fares for a SIN return originating in London. Yesterday C was £3k+ and F/R was £5.9k

    Today C is £5.1k and F/R is £8.5k

I would either guess that something is wrong or SQ want to seriously price themselves out of the market. I called SQ but the agent didn't understand my surprise.

Interestingly SIN based fares remain unchanged.

SQ ex-LHR in J has always been in the £3k+ range, increasing it to £5.1k is seriously surprising! At that kind of prices, it costs more than what most carriers would charge on that route, in F.

I had a call from SQ. They admitted it was a mistake and they said they will rectify it as soon as they can. Don't book LHR based fares until they do!! It seems that Y was also affected.

Still not fully fixed that I can see. Only fully flexible fares in J, and fully flex or super discounted in Y - i.e. no mileage earning flexisaver/W fares

SQ is one the few airlines that do not list their special fares on many CRS's fares.. hence they have their own 'special' fares but booked only thru their own website. So such a fare display is probably some internal web fault and SQ is displaying published fares ex-UK instead of the 'specials'.

By doing that, it gives a smaller margin of error for mistake fares.. still mistakes do happen as did their recent fares ex-BKK Suite fares. While not a $99 mistake, it's still a mistake. Though I doubt many had taken advantage of the US$3K+ fare just to take the Suites.
