  • Have SQ636 SIN-HND flights been stopped?

I was looking at flights in October 2011 and wrote down a few options back then. One was SQ636 SIN-HND departing 21:30 and arriving 05:15(+1). This was an A330 IIRC which would have allowed for C Saver awards.

Now I checked SQ web site and in Oct 2011 at least this flight has vanished from the schedule. Any ideas?

Maybe schedule not loaded. Give a call to reservations anyhow

Singapore Airlines suspends flights to Haneda as demand weakens after quake

SINGAPORE: Singapore Airlines (SIA) said Monday that it is suspending two out of four flights operating between Singapore and Haneda, due to the weakening demand following the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

SIA said Flights SQ635 and SQ636 will be suspended from March 27.

It added that customers booked on these flights will be contacted and put on other flights to or from Tokyo.

However, SQ633 and SQ634, which fly daily between Singapore and Haneda, will continue to operate.

Yup read it too later on. Thanks. Bummer though as I was really looking forward to the 'theoretical' possibility of Biz Saver awards between SIN and HND on non-77W a/c.

Temporary suspension of SQ635 and SQ636 services
SQ636 (Singapore – Haneda) will be suspended from 27 March 2011, while SQ635 (Haneda – Singapore) will be suspended from 28 March 2011. SQ636 will then resume operations on 8 May 2011, while SQ635 will resume on 9 May 2011. Both flights will be served by Airbus A330-300 aircraft upon resumption. Customers booked on flights affected by this temporary suspension will be contacted and re-accommodated on other flights to and from Tokyo.
It all depends when people have to confidence to go back there while there is still a cloud of radioactive uncertainty hangs around Tokyo. I would say the resumption date is still speculative as anything can still happen.

Yes I just saw and at least KF is showing 2 C seats as Saver awards available on my dates, however, ANA only one so I guess I will have to try and call BD and see if they can grab even the first one and then see if a second one opens up if I can get the first one. Promises to be interesting.

However, was also looking at FUK on A330 which I would assume is not that premium traffic heavy like HND but only saver waitlist possible. ANA shows 2 C seats in this case but I tried to grab them so many times and was never able to get them confirmed. Oh well, fingers crossed.

EDITED: Well low and behold in an unexpected streak of luck I was able to secure the two SQ C Saver award seats for SQ636 that I saw in KF on my desired travel dates via BD award. Baffling to be honest as ANA was showing only 1 seat but who am I to argue in this case. Happy camper. Once this is ticketed SQ can kill the flight again and rebook me onto the 77W, no issue

Interesting, my flight is on Oct 26 (2 pax in C) so now I need to check what happened to my BD redemption. I hope SQ will rebook me. Also means that my 2hrs connection to CTS will be in shambles and I may have to spend a night in TYO or transfer from NRT or so depending on which other flight I get. Not a happy camper.

EDITED: Well looks like someone (SQ or BD - not sure) has rebooked us onto SQ638 (77W) to NRT which by itself is not a bad thing of course given that I redeemed BD C+M and was on an A330 before. However, they (BD) left my HND-CTS flight untouched which departs at 7am from HND versus arriving 8am at NRT now. Issue is that there are only 2 or 3 flights a day from NRT to CTS and I'm not keen on the airport to airport transfer. Well we will see, we may have to suck it up for sake of flying C on 77W.

EDITED 2: Called BD and low and behold there is one NH flight from NRT to CTS in the morning about 2hrs after our new arrival time into NRT. The next possible NRT-CTS connection is 11hrs later so am glad I got that one and that NH had two Eco award seats available. BD reissued ticket in record time and now SQ new C in seats 11D & F is confirmed. Not a bad upset after all. Glad SQ rebooked us based on the travel time not just the route (which was HND vs. NRT) as it saves us an unintended hotel night in Tokyo.
