  • Lufthansa Business / First Class CGK-SIN

I got a very "amazing" online rate of only USD331 for return CGK <> SIN route on Lufthansa for business class. Sounds too good to be true considering that this is less than half of SQ and Garuda esp after the fare increase. Anyone has any experience with Lufthansa on this route? Just wondering if there is a catch for this cheap fare. The only drawback is that there's only one flight a day in the late evening which is not much of an issue to me.

    Any inputs much appreciated.

It's a good deal - but I've seen fares like this before. LH's C product is okay, in one word: consistent (at least my expeirence). You shouldn't expect the service provided on the SIN-FRA flight, it really is a step down. The food is pretty crappy on this sector (cold meal) and overall it's nothing to write home about. However, the fare is low so all in all I'd take it - but don't expect much.

I believe that the discount D class fare has restrictions (i.e. fees) for date and other changes, etc.

I have taken the LH flight on SIN-CGK-SIN before and like it very much for the price. For the short flight, you get a long-haul business class seat, plus an opportunity to sit in the nose section of a 744 - something ever increasingly rare on SQ.

Thanks guys for your inputs. I already book the flight.

For the price, as long as the seat is reasonably comfortable and flight ontime, I am already more than happy. Not going to care about inflight meal quality or service for short haul.

I'm getting so tired with SQ for the relentless increase in fares. It's now USD800 bucks just to fly CGS <-> SG in J! It's already the 3rd time this year they increase airfares

Totally agree with the consistent comment. LH's service is so consistent you almost wonder if they churn their FAs at one single factory.

Many people on the LH board on the other place believe there is a difference between FRA and MUC crews. I tend to agree with that.

For CGK - SIN, you do get a hot meal which is usually a pasta with seafood or prawns. One thing for sure, the International C seats on LH are quite comfortable and well thought out.

I have tried LH J on this route too. Am very happy with the price, product & service!
The only drawback for me is the arrival time into Singapore. Too late to be productive.

Do note that LH does a lot of operational upgrades from Y to J on this route (based on my experience).

For the price for J, I guess just the basics will do. It's even cheaper than SQ on Y! The timing is fine with me since I'm flying home. Only concern is there will be late departure or flight cancel since it's only one flight a day. I'll get to try next week. Will report back.

After flying solely SQ for ages, couldn't believe I finally decided to try a different airline for SQ.

I haven't done SIN-CGK but I've done KUL-BKK vv and BKK-SGN vv and they are pretty decent flights for the short time. The crew are generally in a good mood as they fly from FRA/MUC, have a day off in BKK or SIN then just do a day trip turnaround to SGN/KUL/CGK then another day off before going home the next day.

For the BKK-SGN legs as they are on the ground for a while in SGN and don't leave the aircraft some of them sleep upstairs in the F cabin.

I read somewhere that Lufthansa just launch their new F and J cabins recently.

They have launched a new F on the A380 but surprisingly and sadly have not upgraded their slopey J seat.

Just found a very attractive Z class fare ex-CGK, but USD100 for return date changes don't work for me unfortunately.

For a 1h30 flight but not really for more : it's really too sliding to sleep well
