  • Diamond Club Changes Car Rental Partner from Hertz to Europcar

    New partner is Europcar.

I normally get my cars from Hertz (BD miles) or Avis (BA miles). Europcar once in a while in France. 5% discount with the ANA card. This might affect some of our car rental decisions now.

And for the rest of us!

Looking like VS is the way to go if sticking with Hertz, agreed?

Was going to post this, but didn't think there were a whole lot of renters out there.

Judging by my one Europcar rental in NZ, not impressed... Hertz in Austria was better.

Yes, I'll compare my apples with oranges, thank you very much!

Yeah, no chance of me moving. It was nice while it lasted.

Through the years, I've tried most of the others (many of which have merged now) and nothing even remotely comes close to Hertz. Which is why I've been researching where to accrue my miles. My initial thought was LH (500 miles per), but with VS giving 500 - 1000 per rental, I do believe it gives the most bang for the buck.

But BD gives you 1,500 or 1,700 miles/rental if booked via the BD site. Isn't that better?

The whole point of this thread was to say that Hertz would no longer be a partner with BD.

Maybe it's just me. I'm rather sleepy at the moment.

We don't rent that often, but when we need to Hertz is only a 5-10 minute walk from my work. Their weekend specials (circa £40 for 0800 Fri to 0800 Mon) have been invaluable to us, plus with the sweetner of BD miles,...until now it seems

We need a car to get around certain countries we visit, yes?

E.g. to check out some out of the way restaurants, to drive some of the most scenic routes in the world, to try out new and fast cars, exploring certain regions of a country, etc.

I can see how 9V-JKL could have misunderstood as the thread title appears to indicate that there is a new car rental partner that was added to BD's program. Perhaps we should make a change to make it clearer that Hertz has been replaced by Eurocar/Enterprise.

                    Here's the e-mail from September 15th:

                    Dear HUGE AL

We want you to be the first to know that as of today, we're changing our car rental partner.

You'll now be able to earn and spend destinations miles with Europcar. The number of miles you'll earn depends on the rate you book:
1,500 destinations miles on all public rates
500 destinations miles on all corporate rates

Book your car hire with Europcar on our website and you'll receive 200 bonus destinations miles for every rental.

You'll also receive an exclusive discount of up to 15% on rentals. Find out more.

Also, to celebrate the launch of our new partnership, we're offering you double destinations miles for all rentals made up to and including 31 October 2009.

If you've a booking with Hertz made before today, your booking will remain with Hertz and you'll still qualify for destinations miles. If you have any questions regarding Hertz bookings or car hire vouchers, please see our car hire questions and answers.

We're sure you'll enjoy these additional benefits with Europcar.

                    Regards

                      The DR is right.

Dear mods, please change the title. Thanks.

Have you noticed the changes at Hertz?
The last few times I used them in NYC, the mileage on the cars is very high
                            ( >30,000 miles compared to < 10,000 miles before ).

And the cars are no longer exclusively Ford ( which was a selling point for me ).
The Korean cars they use now are dynamically inferior.
So it'll be an easier decision for me to change loyalties..
