  • ICN-NRT, UA F or OZ J???????

    Hi all...
    Got opportunity for UA F (777) and OZ J (333, 74E, 777 and 767) on ICN-NRT sector for mid April'10....
Which one I must choose? My timing is flexible, so both flight is OK for me....
Forget NH, they use 320 on that date, so not a chance I want on that flight.
Never been on OZ J before, so dunno what to expect from them...
Been on UA F on trans-atlantic before, and it's not SQ F, LH F or even TG F's standard...
    So guys... which one better?
    Thanks guys...

I would choose to fly GMP-HND rather than ICN-NRT. OZ flies the 333 whilst NH flies the 777.
Much shorter trip assuming you're coming from and going into Seoul/Tokyo respectively.

      Thanks 9V-JKL for the suggestion....
unfortunately, my next connecting flight depart from NRT...
If I choose GMP-HND, I need to obtain visa to transfer from HND to NRT...
So... back to topic, which one better, OZ J or UA F??
      Any idea guys???

          OZ J for sure.

Even OZ Y was awesome on this route... back in March '08 when I took it!

I would take OZ J over UA F if the price were the same and the schedules equally convenient.

              Thanks all...
So... it would be OZ J then
(still struggle to get on OZ F on 74E, reroute to ICN-HKG instead of ICN-NRT )

You can't take OZ102 with the F cabin?

Recently I deliberately downgraded myself from UA F to OZ C, and I ended up being absolutely delighted with the service. You might not necessarily be as lucky as me and get the F seat - on the other hand, it's fairly certain that the service and food will be many magnitudes better than UA even in F.

HUGE: OZ102 does not always operate with proper F every day in my experience. Other times, even when F cabin is showing as on sale, they end up blocking off F and using it for C like it was in my case.

Yeah, this I know. But IIRC, F is offered 5/7 days.

                      Another vote for OZ.

UA F (& C) on tag flights is utterly rubbish.
                      ..

Confirmed on OZ102 J , no F inventory on that flight....
                        Thanks guys for the input...

... but - so I understand - only if you're young enough to break through the stiff formality by calling the female crew "elder sister" in Korean.

I have, at best, a year or two left of being able to do that myself - now being closer to 30 than I am to 20...

Unless, of course, I'm addressing a Chief Purser-level FA, in which case I might get away with it for a few more years

I do definitely think that it makes a big difference for them when you speak to them in Korean since they feel more comfortable with it, so they can relax and joke etc - a lot of them don't really have a good enough grasp of English to feel comfortable casually bantering, in the fear that they might inadvertently offend!

The UA meal service on the NRT-ICN routing for F is apparently disgraceful.
                              Would go with OZ all-around.
