Well it looks like I may be back on the 77W. SQ15 the next day is very busy. I am waitlisted but according to the girls, 'chance of clearing is very slim'. I just hope all the flights I had booked originally are still available.

This time zone difference can unfortunately be a bit of a pain for sorting flights out like this.

Well, usually when they say 'slim chance' indeed very slim. That's why I haven't taken SQ12 for a while.

If it's 2 class with BOTH A and D available - you book in D, and sit in F.
I don't think that is true. I think if you're booked in D and it's 2-Class plane, then UA will downgrade you to Y.

IIRC the last time I was on UA 2 class plane, I was booked in D but sat in F. It was SFO-LAX.

It is true. If you are on a CRWTSTAR ticket - ie D class - then you are entitled to the F cabin - ie A class - on 2 class UA domestic flights.

I am now in F on the 2 class 777 on UA149 ORD-SFO on my CRTWSTAR ticket.

The one way to test this is to make a booking on an A319/A320/757/737 UA service that sells F A C D - then book D (you may not be able to issue it for that one segment though - IIRC they're for sale only on through intercontinental connections) and make a seat request. It will pull up the F cabin - and I've always ended up sitting there. CRWStars of course are different as they already book into A.

I can confirm D class booking on UA 2-class aircraft with that booking class available gets you seated in the F cabin. It can be a standalone flight and does not need to be an international connection.

eg.UA 860 which goes GRU-IAD-BOS with the IAD-BOS on a 752, you can book D class on the IAD-BOS segment with no international connection required as part of a CRTW and sit in the F cabin.
