There you have it! TG is ideal.

You can, it just costs more if you're heading towards zone 7 or 8. Plus your stuck with Uncle Gordon's nice little money earner, both of which can be avoided if you start in Zone 2.

Thanks and sorry if this is wrong thread.
ARN (I've heard) is quite popular too.

I don't want to take up forum space (unless people don't mind) but maybe someone/people who can recommend routings could help me out.

Having just over 200K miles I think I should be able to do a return in business (maybe first?).

With 200K miles I would got for Cash & Miles in F. TG is the direct option but there is also LX via ZRH.

It would, but with miles only as Cash & Miles bookings are no longer allowed in F on LH.

Use the NH tool to check availability on the dates you are thinking of, then call DC and (try to*) make the booking.

If your ultimate destination is SIN, then it's almost worth continuing onto HKG and (if you're not interested in having a look there) do a same-day turnaround.

By starting in Zone 2 and finishing in Zone 8, you save (per round-trip, miles and cash, first class) 30,000 miles and £200 over starting in Zone 1 and finishing in Zone 7. To illustrate,

              FRA-SIN (non-LH) F Roundtrip = Zone 1 - Zone 7 = 80,000 miles + £540 cash + taxes
              CPH-SIN-HKG F Roundtrip = Zone 2 - Zone 8 = 50,000 miles + £340 cash + taxes

                +1

Although you are forgetting the new F price stargold..

                Z1-Z7 = 100,000 miles + £675
                Z2-Z8 = 62,500 miles + £425

Even bigger savings of 37,500 miles and £250!

Possible routings using SQ in F are:

                MXP(or other Z2 airport)-FRA-SIN-HKG

Although F redemptions on this route are very scarce and you may have to use an alternative airline. The best 2 to get to SE asia are LX and TK. LX uses the A340 with fully flat F seats (I prefer them to skysuite). TK uses a leased jet airways 77W with a fully enclosed suite. There is a recent trip report on this site by SQflyergirl on TK F. Also other reports can be found for LX F.

So if you can't find SQ availability I would suggest the following route:

                outwards:
                MXP-ZRH-BKK(LX F)stopover-HKG(TG F)

This will be a very enjoyable trip. You will have access to the very nice and exclusive (only open to F passangers on LX and not other *A airlines) lounge, mercedes transfer over to your plane. LX F is very very enjoyable, service is fantastic, food is fantastic and bed is fantastic. In BKK you will be met off the plane by LX ground staff and escorted through the airport and through fast-trak immigration.

You will also experience the famous TG BKK ground service: You are met at the curbside and your bags are taken by a porter. You are then taken to the check in lounge where someone deals with all your check in details for you while you have a nice drink. You are then driven to the fantastic F lounge in a buggy. You will be offered a 1 hour full body massage in your private spa room complete with jacuzzi bath etc. You are then escorted to the plane and will have an enjoyable flight. In BKK you will be met by TG ground staff and escorted through the airport in a buggy.

                Return:

HKG-IST-LHR-GOT (end in gothenburg as there is no direct IST-GOT flight and thus you can go via LHR and enjoy an extra 4 hours of TK F suite and arrive safely in UK)

This will be your suite for the ride. You can access the TG F lounge in HKG which is nice. Look at details on SQflyergirl'sTR for information regarding inflight service. In IST you can use their limo service to go into town and have a look around and come back. Then enjoy TK's recently praised ground service before flying onwards to LHR in F again.

I know SQ gets a lot of praise and I agree it is a very good airline and their F service is fantastic but personally I think alot of it is just hype and IMO LX and SQ are on a par. For TK I cannot comment as I haven't experience it yet (although will be in july ) but it looks very good from SQFG's report.

If you find SQ availability you should book it one-way although on the way back I would do one of the alternative routes/airlines I suggested

Also book as 2 one-ways as it will give you flexibility if you want to change your flights in the future (you can't change any flights on a ticket after the first sector has been flown)
