  • How do i book codeshare at reasonable rates?

    Hi everyone,

i would like to ask something that as been bugging me for a vey long time.

i always wanted to book codeshare flights... eg SIN-LAX-LAS, but the prices on the SQ website and even at travel agents is always ridiculously high.

I mean what is the point of SQ announcing their amazing codeshare when its costs something like S$1500 extra to fly on to LAS as opposed to terminating at LAX?

Anybody know how to mak use of codeshares at reasonable prices?

Codeshares seem to work with other airlines except SQ. I know of no TA in Singapore or anywhere else that can price a reasonable fare to include ongoing destinations. Its always point-to-point only.

Unless you buy a full published fare instead of SQ's website or TA special rates.

don't even worry...just buy a separate rt ticket on US for $39 each way and have your TA link up the two tickets.

Guy Betsy and taipeiflyer are right about SQ codeshares. You're better of booking it separately and linking them. I once checked and a FRA-BCN codeshare 1-way was a whopping S$1,300.

one could easily rack up the BD miles on that route... by going lax-phx-las RT in under 6 hours and getting 2400 miles (4800 if you are above 55,000) for less than $100 including all taxes.

thanks guys... i thought so... whats the point of codeshare i wonder?

the BD miles thing sounds good but i am stuck with KF.

I always book through SQ website. My greatest concern is a missed connection. I don't like spending time at US airports so i try to book as close as possible. I guess my insurance should cover the missed connection should it happen.

if traveling thru LAX, you should give yourself about 1 hour 45 mins to make sure you make your flight... you will have to go thru immigration, collect your bags for security, and then get all the way over to terminal 1 for US. at lax, that can sometimes take awhile.

here's SQs official stance on why codeshare is so expensive. I don't believe it though!

                Taken from their FAQ :

Why are certain fares quoted for interline bookings so high?
The fare for interline bookings takes into account the amount that Singapore Airlines is billed by the partner airline for carrying our passengers.
