    "Fantasy Trip"

I have been told from the dark side boards that for flight redemptions from this trip Mum and Dad should join BD's FFP Diamond club above all others and that they should not join Kriss as the returns with miles and cash are better with BMI.

What l was hoping to achieve was next year they could get maximum redemption from this trip to get them a couple of free awards on a *alliance airline out of OZ.

It seems that the trip would earn them 63000 odd points each with BMI which would get them return J seats to the USA, Asia, South Pacific or South America plus a small amount of cash.

Thats assuming of course there are award seats on * out of Oz available at time of booking.

They would only do this once as they would not be able afford to take another trip so this redemption would be a once only.

Am l doing the right thing here?
Is the other side right is BMI the best?

If not what would you recommend.

Status would not be important as they would not quite reach * Gold (363 points short)

So its all about a couple of free tickets.

    Cheers,

BMI diamond club would also be my recommendation for the more generous accrual/redemption ratio, especially the cash+miles scheme as you described. As your parents are flying in F, they'd accrue at a rate of 2 miles per actual flown mile.

Krisflyer's advantage over BMI would be the ability to perform mileage upgrades on SQ I suppose, and possibly better award availability on SQ flights.

Because of the cash+miles option, BD's earn-burn ratio is a lot more favorable than KrisFlyer's and particularly for infrequent flyers, probably more favorable than any other FFP. When I looked earlier this year, TG and SQ had good availability on Oz-Asia flights.

P.S. If they are less than 500 miles short of *G, I'd try to sell them on a short hop from SIN to KUL to get them over the *G threshold. Those bonus miles on the way home to Oz may come in handy at redemption time.

Also not too hard to get *A award availability on NZ to Asia - redeemed a Business Premier ticket on NZ to PVG 5 months out and got my first choice of dates.

TLTY, take a look at this thread:

          http://www.sqtalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1621

might be informative for you... But in this case of a "one time" deal, I agree with everyone that BD is the way to go...

OOPS...forgot a question for the board: Perhaps not in the case of TLTY's parents, but if a person were to take an ATW like this, wouldn't they join KF to track the PPS value (crediting the mileage some place else) -- though I'm not sure if it would add up to full qualification? Thanks.

It probably won't hurt to sign up for Krisflyer as well to keep track of the PPS Values. However, SQ portion of a RTW ticket will fall far short of SGD 25,000 required to qualify.

                Thanks everyone!

                Thanks People!

It's good to know l have made the right step.

The nice thing about this is that they will both get another trip in 12 months for next to nothing which is a nice bonus.

                Thanks for your help...
