  • Buy SPG points transfer to Air Canada's Aeroplan for J & F flights within Asia

Round-trip SIN-BKK-NRT on THAI in First Class only S$1400!

    Air Canada’s Aeroplan redemption within Asia is very low. 20k Y, 30K J, 50k F.
    http://www4.aeroplan.com/FlightRewardChart.do

If you buy Starpoints, you can transfer to Aeroplan 1:1. Every 20k miles, get 5k bonus.

    20k Starpoints for US$525 (25% discount till 31 May 2014): https://buy.points.com/PointsPartner...mm&c=SWAccSumm

Buy another 20k Starpoints, put in your family member’s account, must be same address. After that transfer 20k to your own SPG account. After that transfer 40k to Aeroplan. End up you get 50k miles!

Total: US$525x2 = US$1050!! = S$1323. If you want to choose your own flights, call Air Canada HKG, C$30 charge. If redeem online, its free.

You're forgetting that Aeroplan does impose YQ on TG awards. Figure about another CAD 400 or so.

I bought SPG myself during this promo to use on a SQ R redemption. HKG-SIN-JFK for US$2,500.

I read in other forums that for Aeroplan, we cannot get seats on A380 and B777-300ER in Suites, First and Business Class for SIA. Is this true?

SIN-BKK-SIN is Royal Silk Class on TG.

I tried to do dummy bookings.

Only SIA, EVA Air, Air China, United and ANA Domestic flights, there is no fuel surcharge to pay.

I thought there's a limit to the amount of miles you can buy for 1 acct? Unless you are using several accounts?

SPG is 20k max per calendar year, but you can transfer points between family which are at same address.

I have 3 accounts in my household, plus I had a bunch of languishing HSBC USA Reward Points which transfer to KF 1:1. Worst part was the nailbiting when I waited for the SPG internal transfers and the transfer to KF, which took 2 weeks in total.

And yeah, unfortunately, no 77W or 388 SQ redemptions with Aeroplan. I've been able to book 772ER space on the IST, CPH and SYD routes without problem, and best of all, Aeroplan does not charge YQ for SQ redemptions.

Transfers from SPG to KF are a good deal. But if you are based in SIN, you can get your Suites ticket even cheaper for around USD 2,000 - inclusive of taxes.

Too bad I'm not based in SIN.

The even better value probably would have been a transfer to AA and get CX F for only 67.5K with low taxes. Alas, I enjoyed my HKG-SIN-SYD Suites trip last month so much more than CX F that it deserved an encore even at almost double the price.

There are a number of different programmes out there with their own different 'bargains' on specific routes or other airlines in the alliance. It would take a long time to go through and list them, and some of them are best not discussed too much...

Thank you for clarifying that for the those who may not be as knowledgeable on these things as others.

Correct. There are still ways to top-up/buy points and transfer to KF miles at a cost of 2 SGD-Cent per mile.

On top, there are so many promotions during GSS where you get plenty of miles for free.
