May as well said you know <1900 is cheaper than Biz class and you can always have a dinning at fine resto...
Which is what makes me avoid TOF. I remember posting about NW cutbacks. The responses flamed me for not being thankful that the "snack basket" offered more choices than the hot breakfast...or the crappy sparkling wine that replaced the Billecart Champagne was at least an option.

To me, they are not and in fact not much different. May be you want to make a list on why you think they are the worst (and yet they can have 5000 flights a day world wide) !

The wine or the FA make your feel satisfy? I would opt for lower ticket price for everyone, and let those pay (for the wine) if they really need it during the flight. The charges is not expensive vs the price different in ticket anyway.

The nett statement is why make everyone pay for it when only a portion of customer need those additional services? So we have to define what is the basic and those does bare minimum like B airlines.

If you enjoy ticking 10 boxes for every imaginable "extra services" every time you buy a ticket, and be taken from the rear at check-in if you forgot to pay in advance for things like baggage or print your boarding pass at home, then fly the LCCs.

Not that UA is far off anyway, but a "full service airline" with "full service fares" like UA really ought not to be aiming for LCC-style service, as you seem to suggest is a really good idea.
