Air Canada spotted at Changi

Hi all,

I'm doing some spotting here at Changi right now and I saw an Air Canada jet parked at one of the D gatrd at the extreme end.

Can't tell the aircraft type and registration due to obstructions. But maple leaf on the tail fin is unmistakably AC.

Chartered service perhaps?

Anybody know?

Not really in the context of a heavy check assuming that's what it is.

But why park at a gate instead of a remote stand/hangar? I'm assuming it's more expensive to park at an aerobridge gate right?
