  • Just as TG get themselves right, a shot to the foot...

They have, for what can only be political reasons, got rid of the guy who has turned them around and is probably the best one they have had in a long time, Piyasvasti Amranand.

Funnily enough there is currently an interview with him on CNBC by Christine Tan where they openly discuss the rumours he may be sacked. That was done on 17 May and on 22 May he was gone. D*ckheads. When even the union is questioning the decision and asking for an explanation you know things are not right.

He has taken what was, to be honest, a laughing stock and made them into a much better airline. The quality of service in First has improved greatly from a couple of years ago, when to be frank it could be a comedy sketch. He also put an end to the embarassing free on board upgrades, where people with J and even Y BP's would stand at the back of the F cabin waiting to be told what seats were empty and then plonking themselves in them. I can't remember the last time I saw that.

I suppose that's the sort of thing that earned him a few enemies, and we know how things work in Thailand...

    A real shame.

He'd suffer the same fate. Two great airlines - about to be driven into the abyss by politics. The only winner out of this is a certain airline a further 184 miles south along the road.

TIT. It makes no sense whatsoever and does not bode well for TGs future. One stepforward for TG and now likely two steps back as this crap can only be politically motivated. Sad.

Like many things in Thailand, it will probably be something to do with people who normally (or expect to) 'get their bit' possibly missing out on something.

Calling the board's accusation of his communication issues "ludicrous", Amranand said the disagreement was over 38 aircraft "which haven't even been acquired".
                    Sounds about right....
