It's VERY difficult to get. Although not impossible, but availability is fairly scare for premium seats. Good luck if you're trying to get more than one seat on the same flight.Originally posted by SQtraveller View PostDoes Mileage Plus have decent access to redemption seats with SQ?
And, of course, Suites is off-limits.

Depending on which airline, whether SQ or UA, you prefer to fly to the US and the UK, I'd say sign up for the FF of that airline. You'd benefit from whatever status you'd achieve on that airline when you actually fly themOriginally posted by SQtraveller View PostI'm based in Singapore and usually do one or two trips a year to the US and the UK.
I don't really redeem - I am a persistent hoarder of miles (even though they depreciate in value over time).
I was thinking that Mileage Plus would be better as I don't redeem much and I would prefer to hold onto milesLe jour de Saint Eugène, en traversant la Calle Mayor...

So far no problem for me. But I remember there is a US$20 service charge.Originally posted by SQtraveller View PostI'm based in Singapore and usually do one or two trips a year to the US and the UK.

Good thing is the miles basically do not expired if you travel once a while (all miles get renew to expired from you last travel* date).
*Miles from hotel also helps.

Mileage Plus requires a lot fewer miles for business class redemptions from SG to UK/US. Seat availability's OK if you book early and are flexible with dates, but redeeming more than 1 biz seat can be quite tough.Originally posted by SQtraveller View PostI'm based in Singapore and usually do one or two trips a year to the US and the UK.

You said you don't redeem much, but then you are asking does MP have decent access to redeem your miles. So what do you want really ?
No airline have decent access to redeem seats with SQ other than SQ itself, as SQ block every single *A partners for their premium seats on 77W / 380 / 345.

Since SQ opened up upper class availbability to Star Alliance partners recently, possible to get business class redemptions on SQ using UA miles, and good last minute availability.Originally posted by ginkoka View PostMileage Plus requires a lot fewer miles for business class redemptions from SG to UK/US. Also, remember, UA add on charges are very very reasonable.
For a recent one way redemption on EWR-SIN in business class, UA charged 60,000 miles plus under US$ 100 in fees and taxes.
