  • Spanair stops operations - any impact to SQ BCN > GRU operations?

Just heard Spanair has stopped operations since Qatar pulled out of potential deal to rescue the airline....

    http://www.spanair.com/es_pos/en_GB/.../Error/Page404

Was wondering if this will impact SQ's BCN > GRU operations? I thought this SQ route was made possible via Spanair...? Cannot remember the details.

No mention on SQ website, only actual JK connecting flights...

    Hope not anyway!

    Spanair collapses, stranding 20,000 people

The Barcelona-based firm stopped operating on Friday and more than 200 flights were abruptly cancelled.

The Spanish government is taking legal action and said Spanair could be fined 9m euros (£7.6m; $11.9m) over the collapse.

In 2010, Spanair reported an operating loss of 115m euros.

The collapse comes after Qatar Airways stopped takeover talks, ending the prospect of further financing, and also reflects weak demand for air travel in Spain.

I find it very funny that the Spanish Govt is going to fine an airline that has already gone bankrupt.
