Anyone done this flight before in J?

When I was confirming flight with TA, she was mentioning that seat config is 1-2-1, I was puzzled and went into seatguru and checked but what I see is different from what I heard.

Then I googled and read in a Thai forum that the plane is a 777ER leased from Jet Airways and J seat are the herring bone type. There were pictures in there too.

But of course, I may be TGed on the day of the flight, which is this Sunday early morning of course...... well, anyone here done the flight very recently?

Last flew this sector in Jan. It was and still is indeed 1-2-1 on the leased 9W 77W.

It is TG, but I have personally not heard of the 77W being TG'ed to older/other inferior a/c.

Seats are without a doubt better than the sloping lie-flats, but FWIW I am not a fan of the 9W herringbone design.

I've looked and there are very few instances of TG-ing occuring on 930/932/931/933

Maybe you could look into topping up one or both sectors to F. The ex-SIN deals have been quite attractive...

no... company is paying for it and TA invoice will reflect on what I flew and some accountants will be very unhappy if they find out I flew F even its topping up from my own pocket.

speaking of topping up with our own money, is it possible the TA billed the company as what is agreed (in this case C) and separate invoice to us the difference?

Flew BKK-CDG in December in J and CDG-BKK in January in F. The 9W product on these leased 77W's is certainly superior to TG's own product. I love the privacy and aisle access these seats offer. Got some good sleep in them as well (though you may find it slightly claustrophobic unless your really thin like me). TG itself isn't the greatest - the food in J is very Y class like (especially the main course) but its OK service wise.

If possible, I'd spend a little bit extra to upgrade. It can be done at the airport and you can pay cash/plastic while checking in if you don't want your company to know. A big big difference between J and F, especially in terms of hardware.

Colleague of mine just confirm he would be on same flight, so better not do any upgrades. Will just wait till my gold status and get the entitled free upgrade next time.

It depends on your TA. Most smaller TA shouldn't have an issue doing this as long they get paid eventually.

ok, done the flight, it was another normal flight for me, though the seats are interesting, herring bone style.... food wise ... same same.... been eating similar TG food so many times until nothing special.... service wise, normal TG service, no complaints...

off to Japan tonight, when I have some time will post up a mini TR..
