If the crane is coming back in this new look, then I am very disappointed. Love the crane but not the new look.

I doubt it, looking at the tail on this it will be the same / very similar to the current tail.

Apparently it is. Just spoke to a friend who's a ground crew based in Singapore.
God must have been a ship owner, he placed the raw materials far from where they are needed and covered two-thirds of the earth with water...

Tails are painted very early in production. Probably at that time it was still assumed to be delivered in the current scheme. The new scheme was only announced recently.

Indeed. It is just like how it appears in the website provided by UMD. JA654J seen here on final approach to PEK on 02 March 2011.

I find it hard to use a different adjective from 'bland' to describe the new livery. Besides the tail, the rest of the aircraft is black and white. Font of 'Japan Airlines' looks rather dated.

Is this some retro livery? This "new" one looks like a step back in time.

Ya, I feel the new livery is going backward
Is it because of the different management? why they want to change it back to before??

Love the crane, hate the font.
Could they like change it to Helvetica Neue Condensed Bold or something?

                        LOL.
