Airphil Express - formerly Air Philippines - will inaugurate daily Manila-Singapore-Manila flights on 27 October 2010 using Airbus A320. Each aircraft will have a 177-seat all-economy configuration and each passenger is entitled to 15kg of check luggage.
The re-branding of Airphil Express took place in March 2010 and it is a sister-airline of state-owned Philippine Airlines. Between September and November 2010, Airphil Express will receive four A320s and Singapore is its first international destination. It intends to quickly add frequencies on the Singapore route by end-2010 and will also be serving Hong Kong and Seoul. Domestically, the airline operates a fleet of Dash 8 Q300s and Q400s.
Airphil Express also plans to operate from other cities such as Cebu and Kalibo (for Boracay-bound passengers) to Singapore.
Starting 27 October 2010, the flight schedule to Singapore is as follows:
2P-800 dep MNL (Terminal 3) 1640hrs arr SIN (Terminal 2) 2005hrs
2P-801 dep SIN (Terminal 2) 2055hrs arr MNL (Terminal 3) 0005hrs (+1)
For a start, this is not a good schedule for photography in Singapore but hopefully with additional frequencies, it should become a common sight (somewhat like Cebu Pacific Air).
