Lost Luggage on China Eastern Airlines

Hi,

China Eastern Airlines had lost my parents' luggage while flying them from ICN to PVG. After 2 or so months of waiting/liasing by the trip organizers etc, they decided to compensate them USD400.

Wonder if the compensation is fair esp when the luggage contained items more than that amount? Also, for the same itinerary, SQ broke the wheel of another luggage, but they compensated S$100 immediately.

So, kindly advise me if there r ways to get more compensation from them, or if the compensation is sort of fair n standard.

I think the answer is...

Google and read about the Warsaw Convention. The amount of compensation is limited by law and it depends on the weight of the luggage lost. For anything beyond that, you need to rely on your own travel insurance (if any).
