  • Batavia Air and Zest Air to start SIN services

According to sources, Batavia Air of Indonesia and Zest Air of Philippines would be starting flights to Singapore soon. Batavia Air would start services in late Oct with 2/3x daily flights to Jakarta and Semarang while Zest Air would start service with 1x daily flight to Philippines (not sure which city though) from mid Dec. Both airlines would be using Changi Terminal 2.

Looks like competition is heating up on Indonesia and Philippines routes.

And looks like Lion Air is the first casualty of the opening up of SIN-CGK and SIN-DPS route. They have reduced their SIN-CGK service from 4x daily to 1x daily SIN-CGK-SGN-CGK-SIN. Their DPS route is also currently suspended.

Other than Batavia Air and Zest Air, which are confirmed to start services to SIN soon, there seemed to be 1 more airline intending to launch services to Singapore. A day earlier, I saw the T2 Airline Listing outside Budget Terminal with 3 new airlines' names being covered over with a tape pending their operations, 2 of which I could make out to be Batavia Air and Zest Air. Anyone has any idea about the third?

Why are you rooting for Air China when it is China Airlines and Eva that will move to T3?

I had to do a double take upon entering the Dynasty Lounge at TPE T2 cuz out front, they had cardboard cutouts of the ladies of the mainland Chinese airlines' whose premium pax now have Dynasty lounge access as well in TPE.

Changi's 'Explore' info guide lists both Batavia and Zest Air as operating from T2. But there are still 3 airlines taped over at the info boards.

Looks like Zest Air has quietly withdrawn the launch of SIN services. Their latest timetable also did not reflect SIN flights. Booking for SIN flights on their website had also been disabled. Instead, it seemed that the rights for additional SIN-MNL flights have been given to Cebu Pacific, which will launch 4 extra weekly services on the SIN-MNL route from 28 Mar, with a total of 25x a wk.
