A Boeing 737-400 plane belonging to Lion Air made an emergency landing at Hasanuddin airport in Makassar on Saturday due to a fractured window.
The plane, carrying 138 people, was en route to the Southeast Sulawesi capital of Kendari from Jakarta when the pilot found the fracture in one of the passenger's windows on the left side of the aircraft. The plane safely landed at 5:09 p.m. local time.
"The incident did not actually endanger the passengers as the window has two layers. But in accordance with the international aviation safety procedure, the plane must land at the nearest airport," head of Hasanuddin airport data management system Didik Suryanto said.
