With regards MPC membership, as far as i have seen with my wife's membership she has never been kicked out of Green regardless of not flying. I stopped flying CX more than two years ago, lost my Silver became Green and still am with my redemption miles set to expire still a few years from now.

With regards the USD50 membership, it is only worth it if you will be flying enough to gain Silver membership or above, and gain lounge access. When you consider the price of Priority Pass and Pay-As-You-Go lounge access at USD20 per visit it works out quite good. When CX stopped issuing their own co-branded credit card a year or two ago i think any free membership also disappeared because it sued to be that when you signed up for their card, MPC membership was thrown in for free........ this is how i joined first.
hi scooby5 - thanks for the info. i have signed up for MPC few days back n now am waiting for the card to arrive we i will be on a trip to Taiwan on 2nd Aug...will most likely throw in a TR for my journey there as it has been 2 years since I last flew CX......for the ticket, the price quoted is around RM5,000 n its only in booking class B...the above price you mention i assume is for departure somewhere in later year...

Initially i thought the price was high compared with prices i even paid for business class between KL and Frankfurt through HK so it got me curious and i checked out the CX-MY website.

Suppose it depends if you have enough time to apply for an Infinite/Platinum Visa if you don't already have one Must be so important they mentioned it twice in their Terms & Conditions.

I did a dummy booking for Aug.2nd (leaving 8am) and got an all in price of MYR4,110 in Business Class with just about 5,000 Asiamiles to credit. Booking Class I.

For those who need to fly J in CX to TPE for more than twice before September, you can buy a return ticket from your origin and buy a RT ticket ex-TPE because the ex-TPE J class ticket is incredibly low for many destinations, for details, please go to Taiwan's CX site to take a look.

For example, if you travel from KUL to TPE in 3 Aug to 6 Aug, then again 23 Aug 26 Aug, buying two round trip ticket origin from KUL, the total cost is MYR 4505 x 2 = MYR 9010, but if you buy a ticket dated KUL-TPE-KUL 3 Aug and 26 Aug, and a ticket TPE-KUL-TPE dated 6 Aug and 23 Aug, the total fare is MYR 4505 + TWD 10478 (MYR 1127.2) = MYR 5632.2, you will save MYR 3407.7, and the ticket ex-TPE is also earn miles.

PS: I don't know how the pricing J ticket of CX ex-TPE is calculated, the fare different between J and Y to some destinations like KUL is just TWD 50!!

The only way to avoid the $50 fee is to see if your travel agency has a huge travel volume with CX and they may put in a good word for you with their sales department to waive the fee. It is still a big *IF*. But seeing that the airlines are suffering so much for volume these days, perhaps tell yoru TA to tell CX that your other choice would be with say, SQ! That might move things a little.

Question is should I pay n sign up for Marco Polo club as I find some of the terms n conditions are ridiculous to a certain extend....

Anyone can tell me which one is better : Asia Miles or Marco Polo ?...thks
in my opinion, if you really fly frequently with CX it is worth to be the MP member. after the 1st fee, if you fly 4 sectors per year, you will automatically re-qualify to be Green MP member without need to paying any fee.

Since you are flying PEN-HKG-TPE-HKG-PEN, that will mean you will definitely qualify for auto renewal already.

CX is very generous to the MP member. I have been upgraded few times to Biz Class even I was flying using free ticket.
