Plane crashes in Indian Ocean with 150 people on board

An airliner belonging to Yemeni state carrier Yemenia Air has reportedly crashed in the Comoros archipelago, off the east coast of Africa, in the Indian Ocean more than 150 people on board.

"We don't know if there are any survivors among the 150 people on the plane," a senior Comoros government official told Reuters.

The passenger jet, Yemenia Flight 626, was en route from Yemen's capital Sanaa to Moroni, the capital of Comoros, when it crashed one hour before its destination

30th june 2009 A 14-year-old girl was found alive in the sea amid debris and dead bodies after a Yemeni Airbus jet crashed in the Indian Ocean while trying to land in the Comoros islands with 153 people aboard.

The A310 had already aborted its first landing and was making a second attempt when it crashed, as French authorities questioned the carrier's safety record revealing the 19-year-old jet had been banned from France's airspace.
"They are saying the plane was making its approach, that it pulled out of the approach and then tried another approach that went wrong," French Transport Minister Dominique Bussereau told French radio.

They reportedly skirted EU flight inspectors by flying a 332 from France and then making an equipment change in Sanaa to the older 310?

And all this time the EU banned airlines such as Garuda while allowing Yemenia to fly to France? Incroyable.
