  • Korean Air

    Hello,

    I'm a newbie here.

I'm going to be taking Korean Air for the first time this July from JFK-ICN & be sitting on Y class. Does anyone here have any feedbacks about the JFK-ICN flight. I'm taking the afternoon one that departs 2PM (KE082). Is the flight usually full in economy? According to my itinerary & several sites (expedia, korean air site, etc), the flight will be operated by Korean Air's new B777-300ER. Any info on their new aircraft? All I know is that they'll be introducing new generation seats & it will have Thales' new IFE after reading several articles.

And let us know if they're still doing the "Memory of Flights" service where they have the FAs sport the 11 different uniform designs they've had since 1969

        Thanks for the replies, guys!

I'll be sure to write up a trip report.

As for the "memory of flights" service. I think it was just on that one flight from Seoul to LAX. Here are some pix from a Korean Air page in facebook.....

Also saw a picture of KE's new & first 77W, still @ Boeing in Everett, WA! i love 77W! hehe

Their first 777-300ER will start service to Bangkok (days 246) and JFK (days 357). I'm guessing the route it'll fly will be ICN-BKK-ICN-JFK

And once they get their 2nd and 3rd orders, they'll start service daily

Korean Air to spend $200m to upgrade seats

Korean Air, the country's largest air carrier, will invest $200 million for the next three years on new premium seats for passenger flights on mid- and long-haul routes, the company said yesterday.

As part of its efforts to offer exclusive services to its customers, the air carrier will introduce three types of new seats: Kosmo Suites in First Class, Prestige Sleeper in Prestige Class and New Economy in Economy Class. It plans to unveil the new seats in late May, the air carrier said.

This is a part of the second phase of its extensive refurbishing plan for 70 passenger flights.

It has completed the first part of the remodeling project for 26 planes last year.

"Designed by Acumen, a design company based in the United Kingdom, Kosmo Suites in first class cabin will offer 180 degree lie-flat beds widened to 67 centimeters to provide passengers with added comforts," the company's PR office said.

"Korean Air's new Prestige Class seats, named Prestige Sleeper, also offer customers the level of comfort normally reserved for First Class at other carriers," it added.

Passengers can access a wide range of entertainment in all classes of the air carriers' flights including its new AVOD system that offers upgraded in-flight entertainment in high resolution and top processing speed, the company said.

I am also taking KE this summer from JFK to Philippines via ICN! Maybe we're on the same flight? Haha.

I wouldn't know what to expect since it will be my first time riding with Korean Air. When my family and I go to the Philippines we usually take Cathay Pacific via Hong Kong but since our travel agent/family friend go us super cheap summer fares for Korean Air, we had to give CX a break haha.

All I know is the same thing as you from reading several articles on the net. 77W's with new seats in all three classes this June and new IFE from Thales. Also my fellow Filipinos who have taken Korean Air have said nice things about the airline. Good service, lovely flight attendants & tasty food. Overall, I've heard nothing but good feedback about them. But I guess I'll just have to wait and see if what they say is true!

I'm flying KE082 this July 10, 2009 (which is a Friday) so I guess I'll be riding KE's new 777-300ER? I hope the Economy section won't be too full..

Anyone have a picture of Korean Air's new economy class seats? They've only released photos of the new Kosmo suites (F) and Prestige Sleepers (J)
