I interpret those rules differently. BA Golds are entitled to Arrivals Lounge access when arriving on long-haul BA flights, regardless of class of travel. QF flights on the Kangaroo route are, by virtue of the JSA, treated as BA flights. Thus I think LukeGT will be able to use the lounge. (I'm assuming that LukeGT is arriving from BKK, SIN or HKG, not some hokey codeshare from Europe. )
jjpb3, what you wrote is exactly my doubt. QF is not a standard partner... it's definitely more than this.
And yes, I'm unluckily incoming from BKK (previously it was from SIN with A380, but now involuntarily rebooked via BKK)
There's only One way to fly.... SINGAPORE AIRLINES!
If SQ is too expensive, the other way to fly is Qatar Airways
jjpb3's understanding is mine as well. However, that's the theory but in practice, if you went over to T5 and tried to get in with a QF BP, they may refuse you out of ignorance because it's not a common situation:
This document suggests that QF Platinums flying either QF or BA long haul would get access to the Arrivals lounge. An arrangement by virtue of the JSA. From that I interpret that as BA Gold flying QF long haul you're also entitled to access.

The Arrivals Lounge at Terminal 4 will be closed from 22 October 2008.
If you are flying British Airways First or Club World, or are a Gold Executive Club member arriving on a flight into London Heathrow Terminal 4, we are pleased to invite you to make use of our new Galleries Arrivals Lounge in Terminal 5.
When you have cleared Baggage Reclaim and Customs, please make your way to the BAA Information point on the Arrivals level. Representatives from our ground transport team will be on hand to escort you to our dedicated transfer coach.
When you enter Terminal 5 please take the lift or the escalator closest to Check-in Zone G to Level 1, where you will find our new Galleries Arrivals Lounge.

Note: Qantas passengers travelling in First and Business and arriving at T4 on the following British Airways (BA/QF) codeshare flights will have access to the T5 Galleries Arrivals Lounge:
- BA10/QF301 Sydney/Bangkok to London Heathrow
- BA16/QF319 Sydney/Singapore to London Heathrow
- BA12/QF3345 Singapore to London Heathrow
- BA7311 Sydney/Bangkok to London Heathrow
- BA7371 Sydney/Singapore to London Heathrow
- BA7309 Melbourne/Singapore to London Heathrow
So BA Gold arriving on Qantas has arrivals lounge access. All other premium pax flying on Qantas code on Qantas metal (eg QF WP even if flying QF F) do not have arrivals lounge access
Having said that, it's a bit of a roundaround to get into the arrivals lounge though, since there's a terminal change involved. This has reinforced my resolve to stick to QF29 whenever possible, which lands at standard check in time for most hotels.

Yeah it is a mess until the shift from T4 to T3. QF elite flying QF metal on QF flight numbers get shafted until then unfortunately. I really hope the terminal shift is before my next QF LHR flight.
And OW departure lounges not too flash either at the moment from T4 (no F lounge).
excuse Kiwi, but reading at your very interesting quotes, I still have the doubt.
I'm flying Y class (being BA gold) QF metal on QF code. I know my flight is marketed also as BA flight, but I'm on the QF portion.
For what I read in your quotes, BA gold has access only if flying BA Code or BA metal into LHR.
