  • Emirates Eyeing Adelaide Flights

Emirates is exploring the possibility of flying into Adelaide as the carrier confirmed it will add a third daily flight into Sydney late next year.

Could be a bit more competition for SQ, CX and MH. I know its early days (anything up to 18 months), but any thoughts what aircraft would be used and whether it is likely to be a ADL/SIN/DXB service, ADL/DXB or act as a transit stop enroute to SYD, MEL or AKL.

In the same article EK are talking about a "gentlemans agreement" to enter Aust-US route.

    Lets see what happens.

Does EK have enough rights for Australia? I thought there flights are capped at x per week.

As for Aust-USA on EK, I'll believe it when I see it.

According to the article, EK has a limit of 84 flights per week. It currently utilises 49 of those slots and will expand to 63 from February 2009. So there is some capacity.
