  • JAL A350 Accident at Haneda (2 Jan 2024)

Breaking news on the BBC...there has apparently been an accident at Haneda involving a JAL A350 on approach, and Japan Coast Guard aircraft. Not a lot known at the moment.

Thunderous applause for the Japan Airlines cabin crew and Haneda Airport emergency personnel for successfully evacuating all 379 individuals onboard JAL 516 which apparently collided with a Coast Guard plane (ferrying supplies to the earthquake ravaged region) and burst into fire upon landing. Condolences to the crew of the Coast Guard plane.

Looks like it was on Runway 34R.

The aircraft was JA13XJ, a 4.5 yo A359. Is this possibly the first ever hull loss of an A350? Astounding that everyone got out with the level of incineration.

I believe this is the first ever hull loss of an A350. Surprised to hear such incident would occur with the amount of technology and training available to prevent such an occurrence in this day and age.

Japan really has a bad start to the new year with an earthquake, a tsunami and now this. Condolences to the deceased.
