  • Call for manslaughter charges over Concorde crash

    http://www.theage.com.au/news/news/c...125978942.html

A French public prosecutor has asked judges to bring manslaughter charges against US carrier Continental Airlines over the 2000 crash of a Concorde flight that killed 113 people, the prosecutor's office said today.
All opinions shared are my own, and are not necessarily those of my employer or any other organisation of which I'm affiliated to.

This does smack a little bit of desperation to me. If I remember my law correctly (which admitedly was British law not French law) they would have to prove that Continental could have taken steps to ensure that the piece of metal did not fall off. Even if they manage that they have to prove that it was reasonable that the Continental could predict that the piece of metal falling off would lead to the death of the passengers on another flight.

I just don't see anyway that this case would ever win. It seems to be another case of we must find someone guilty for what was a tragic accident.
