Hey singaporeairlinesboi, nice talking to you lately Hehe, I can't wait to see how CX F will compare to SQ suites, that will be the real test. But yeah, SIA J class blows the Cathay Coffins out of the water. I just can't understand how CX could have gone sooo wrong on this one! Its like they were desperate and tried stuffing all elements that make a good biz class into one messy package. It's more like a complete flat Premium Economy if you ask me. A disfunctional one at that. Same goes for Y. Its uncomfortable and over-hyped; new SQ Y with traditional recline is still much nicer aesthetic wise and comfort wise IMO. Thanks for the post on the Roadshow! SQ Talk has pics from the Roadshow before CathayTalk, ironic.

The only real improvements I see are from StudioCX, its almost as good as KrisWorld now it seems. Oh, and I was rofl at the ignorance of CX staff about other airline products, I've noticed that SQ staff seem to be a bit more up-to-date on competitor products compared to other airlines' crew.

*One more random point, I noticed that in your F pictures of the bed that the duvet had a blotch of stain of some sort. Strange, especiallly for a public launch.*

I have tested the new C product during a similar roadshow at a Travel Expo in HKG and agreed that it's not up to mark

It actually feels narrower compared to the current one that I have flied in quite a few times, although the crew insisted that they are actually of similar width

Too bad, they didn't install the new F and Y products during that Travel Expo.

One thing about the new Studio CX is the option to set the screen for Widescreen or 4:3 which I think is useless. CX should just set it to widescreen so no passenger end up watching the movies in the old smaller format. On my last flight with the new Studio CX, half of the passengers watched movies in the smaller format.

Thankfully eX2 on SQ is defaulted to WIDESCREEN even though you can change it to 4:3 format.

                  Great report singaporeairlinesboi, very comprehensive!!
Color schemes seems horrendous and I wonder about those Y seat comforts.. I thought it supposed to be revolutionary.

I know, it was nice talking to you on youtube as well. Exactly, when i was at the show i told one of the Flight attendants that SQ will be introducing Suites for the a380 and it will be bigger and nicer then CX new F. She replies "really? i wasnt aware that SQ is introducing another F class". Yes the new J class felt very stuffy when in bed mode. It didnt feel comfortable at all and those little tables made me feel as if i was going to hit it with my head. Y class didnt feel so innovative as they had hype it up. I really thought that it was going to recline and didnt find it comfortable at all.

Hey, didn't know there was a CathayTalk till now. Thanks for the introduction! Visited their forum and found that their members were less active, and the information posted were not as comprehensive as SQTalk.

Man that is really bad I thought it would be better! I would rather fly with the current cabins. A lot worse than the great products of SQ, Qantas and Jet Airways. The Business class is soo narrow! SQ, Qantas and Jet Airways new products kick Cathay's ass! A shameful effort from Cathay.

singaporeairlinesboi, thanks for the very detailed pictorial report.

If that's what I can look forward to on CX, that's certainly causing me to question one of my FFPs. (But headstrong me will probably try to experience it, just to make sure my impressions aren't off the mark, given your pictures and UMD's as-always-reliable review.)

Hmm, I wonder how (un?)comfy the ergonomics of the new CX Y seat will be. Seems like one can hardly recline?

It will win lots of brownie points from the anti-reclining side of the seat recline debate I'm sure. But from my POV it looks like it'd destroy my back on long hauls!

From what I've read, it won't be your back that would be at risk but your neck. If that's the case, it would be a disappointing step back for CX.

I'll try to see for myself whether this is true.
