  • Emirates New JCL seats

Available on the 77W. The stitching in the seats are very SQ like and although the seats are pretty, if i paid a full JCL class fare, I DO NOT want to be in the middle seat.

They seem to have carried over the shitty brown faux-wood material from the current J. But the 2-THREE?-2 layout is a thumbsdown.

Nice texture and all that jazz, but 2-3-2 in J is a faux pas in 2016.

This was the dumbest thing I heard coming out of ITB Berlin.

            Very ugly seats!

From a commercial angle, if they can fill and make money from the massive capacity they are running in the market, then more power to them. I'll just stop calling Emirates a premium carrier right here. More like the Ryanair of global JCL travel...

I have always hated the look of the EK seats. Shame the new seat hasn't changed in the style.

The shape of the 'chair' itself and the wall with the 3 IFE screens reminds me of the seat model UA uses on their 777s in a 2-4-2 layout. I wonder if these seats are actually any wider.
The world's too large a place not to go wandering.

Direct aisle access on long-haul flights is overrated, anyway

Launching 2-3-2 in JCL in 2016.

Even AF, KL and LH wouldn't do that.

But like you say, if they can fill it why change....

Indeed, we need to put them in the same bracket as that LCC based in West London and their 8 across.

Look at the guy lying down in the middle seat. He looks like an orange: totally squeezed.
                            Materials look nice though.

Surprised that Emirates appear to have dropped the ball on this one. Their current 777 J seat seems quite out-of-date, and this new iteration does not appear to bring it up to level of their competition, although moving from slanted lie-flat to fully flat is a major improvement. An improvement for sure, but not as much as I expected.

Yes, the guy in the picture doesn't look all that comfortable. I won't say what it reminds me of, but it rhymes with coughin'...

That said, most of my flying on Emirates is in Y, and I have a different set of challenges there. Y on EK's A380's is great. Excellent hard product. Y on their 777's? Nope, 3-4-3 doesn't cut it for me, no matter how many times apologists try to say that 10-abreast 777's are the "new standard"...
