Shame it's the two class A330's rather than the three class 77W's, and only twice a day initially, but it's a start.
How come I beat our resident GA fan in posting this ?.
I thought I had mentioned it somewhere in the other thread, but maybe I was wrong. In order for me to hold on to my title as the resident GA fan in SQTalk, here are the 2 flights that have been flown on A332 since August:
From SIN - CGK:
- GA 829 Dep. 1220
- GA 837 Dep. 2020
From CGK - SIN
- GA 826 Dep. 0845
- GA 834 Dep. 1640
Starting November, GA will upgauge another 2 flights to A330. So, a total of 4 out of 9 fligths daily will be on its A330. The 2 inital A332 flights mentioned above, however, will go to A333 instead. Here are the details:
From SIN - CGK
- GA 823 Dep. 0700 A332 - GA 829 Dep. 1220 A333
- GA 835 Dep. 1845 A332 - GA 837 Dep. 2020 A333
From CGK - SIN - GA 826 Dep. 0845 A333
- GA 832 Dep. 1445 A332 - GA 834 Dep. 1640 A333
- GA 836 Dep. 2040 A332

So GA will over-night one of its A332 at SIN.
Won't it too "costly" for GA to keep one A330 over night in SIN? They have too much A330?
Airlines leave wide body aircraft at airports overnight all over the world every day of the year. SQ leave a 777 at CGK.
Of course. Any way SQ only have widebody, so it is irrelevant here. I know TG also park their 777 in SIN but it always the B777-200 not the version that they can (prefer) to use long haul for long haul service.
SIN as the busiest overseas city for GA is special. However my question is , does it mean they have "enough" (or even too much) A330 by November so that they can afford to park it in SIN over night rather than make it fly to OZ or Japan?

They clearly have enough, otherwise they wouldn't be doing it, would they ?.
GA has been operating 16 A330 until now (6 first generation A333 and 10 A332). Last week, PK-GPR, the 1st of 18 GA's new A333 joined the fleet. This new A333 has a spacious configuration of 251 seatings (36 J and 215Y).

As of Oct 27th 2013, the following flights are now on A332:
From CGK - SIN
GA 832 Dep 1445
GA 834 Dep 1630 (this will be upgauged to A333 starting Nov. 1)

From SIN - CGK
GA 823 Dep 0725
GA 835 Dep 1845
GA 837 Dep 2020 (this will be upgauged to A333 starting Nov. 1)
Garuda has also recently added its 9th flight daily with GA 836 that leaves CGK at 1815 arriving into SIN at 2105. This flight will return as GA 839 that leaves SIN at 2205 and arriving into CGK at 2255. This flight has been operated by B738.

Just a minor correction GA823 was only upgraded to A332 from 28-OCT (not 27-OCT), as it was the return flight of GA838 which has been upgraded to A332 from 27-OCT.
I was on the "innagural" flight of A332 on GA838 on 27-OCT. The flight is very empty. Only 1 passenger in C. Y is not even 50% full I think (I did not really count, but many empty rows).
Personally, I think in term of seat and IFE, B738 is much better than A332. The screen on A332 is smaller compare to B738 as it has some small remote attached next to it. On my flight, there was no Air Show available. I am not sure if the A332 is not equipt with it or just they did not turn it on on my flight.
Seat-wise, I think the seat in A332 is harder compare to B738. Not sure if this is just my feeling
So it is a mix feeling for me, if I will really choose the A332 flights over B738.
