  • Air Asia - excess baggage over 40kgs

    Hi All,

Im off to KUL tomorrow from SIN and have ALOT of luggage to take. I purchased the 40kg online, but looks like im going to need around 50-60.

The website only allows a maximum of 40kgs to be booked. BUT i can purchase additional KG for 'sports equipment'.

Does anyone know if i purchase additonal KGs as sports equipment, can i just check in extra bags?

    Thanks in advance

    J

P.s. tried the call centre but that is next to useless!

I've read in their fine print saying that sports epuipment payment can't be used for baggage. In practice, I'm not sure how strictly they enforce this.

If you don't get away with the sports equipment, you'll be in for a shock of your life.

You can avoid over-the-counter fees by purchasing another seat and more allowance. Depending on which flight you're on, the most expensive all in fare for tomorrow is about SGD70. Add another SGD15 (roughly) for another 15kg and you'll pay no more than SGD90.

Much better than the exorbitant excess baggage fees.
