  • SQ Suite Class Outclassed! Aka QF F

I have very little time to post this as I am in transit in Singapore on QF 31.
I just wanted to start this thread by saying that I have been quite impressed with the whole QF F experience out of SYD!

There is another thread for my flight out LHR-SIN and I have not posted anything for the SIN-SYD. But for this flight, I thought I should do so.
I will need more time to get pictures up but I can already say that QF 31 service out of SYD is outstanding and beats SQ's suite class! Judged on value for money, it is way beyond SQ's suite class (yet it is still first class )
And in absolute terms, I found it to be worth more.

So, pictures and comments are coming as soon as I get off in London!

    Cheers!

Yes, looking forward to it. !

I'm beginning to think there are lots of classes out there that outclass the class beyond whatever class they claim it to be beyond.

DFP! I came back at 11:00PM last night (only cleared immig around 11:30), it seems we just missed each other... would have been nice to say hello!

Glad to hear you had a wonderful flight, and I hope an onwards one to LHR also.

Here we go. I will start with saying that QF does have a good service for check in. They called us at the number on record with the booking the day before departure and asked if we wanted to be pre-checked-in. To which I said yes.
I provided with passport numbers and expiration dates which were the only missing information to do the check in. Then the agent asked if we would like to be met at the arrival by an assistant. Again I said yes and was given a phone number to call ten minutes before arriving at the airport so that the assistant would come and meet us. Finally he asked if we wanted to get a Spa treatment. Of course my answer was again yes and we made some booking for it. More on this later.

This call a day before to prepare everything is an outstanding service!
At the arrival at the airport, the First check in area is a section enclosed in marble. It's not as secluded as the SQ F check in Singapore but it offers similar service. When we arrived, our boarding passes were already printed and we were ready to go in no time. We went through the express emigration and security services and went to the lounge.

The QF F lounge is much talked about as being the best in the Oneworld alliance! I did not take any picture of the actual lounge but I must say it is a great lounge and I look forward to visit it again. It has beautiful views to the runways and gates with the Sydney skyline in the background.
I did take a picture of our ride being towed to the gate:

The lounge also has a restaurant area with a nice menu. The restaurant is managed by Neil Perry, celebrity Chef owner of several high end restaurants in Sydney! You can eat at a table or on a stool facing the open kitchen.
Wonderful setup. I would recommend going to the QF F lounge very early!

I did take one picture inside, and that is of the massage room with live plant walls.

I would kinda expect an ape or some wild animal to be starring at me during the massage!!

Thanks for sharing, DFP. Looking forward to more.

I've never gotten the pre-flight call, but that's probably because all my QF F bookings are either cheapo redemption tickets or points-funded upgrades (which don't clear till approx T-18).
All opinions shared are my own, and are not necessarily those of my employer or any other organisation of which I'm affiliated to.

After my massage, announcement was made that QF31 to Singapore and London was boarding. So we went down to gate 10, which is about the closest gate to the lounge and presented our boarding passes. We were escorted along the jetway, passing people who were boarding economy.

I had seat 5K for the second time and put on the QF PJs and relaxed in my suite drinking some Comtes de Champagne bubbly! After take off, dinner order were taken.
What QF has exceptional on this flight is the tasting menu. The menu is from Neil Perry's Rockpool. The tasting menu is offered with the option of matching wines.

My companion and I chose to have the tasting menu. It started with some amuses bouche. Corn fritters with Chilli Caramel Sauce and Spanner Crab Salad on Blini with Crème Fraîche.

After that, the table was set for the two of us:

I liked the alignment of wine glasses ready for the white wines...

I got some nice bread with olive oil and vinegar mix for dipping.

Then the first wine was served.
                      Tappanappa Tiers Vineyard Chardonnay 2008.

This was to go with the Summer Tomato Soup with Pesto and Croutons

I don't think so since we had metal on all other flights. I have no clue why these were plastic....
