Potential TR... SQ R MEL-SIN and EK F SIN-DXB-LHR

Long time reader, occassional poster

I'll be going on my annual pilgrimage to London in a couple of days. For my trip this year, I'll be flying SQ from MEL to SIN, then EK from SIN to LHR, via DXB.

I took advantage of SQ's Suite promotion and will have an overnight stay at the Raffles Hotel in S'pore, which will be a first for me.

Also took advantage of the strong Aussie dollar and bought my EK ticket SIN-LHR-SIN, which, believe it or not only costs a couple of hundred A$ more than my SQ MEL-SIN-MEL mixed R/P class ticket!

After reading SQFG excellent TRs, I thought I'll do my own comparison between SQ's R on the A380 and EK's F suite on the 77W and A380.

This will be my first TR... any tips on what I should do to make a good TR will be appreciated

TR Failed - Sorry guys, didn't take any pics for a TR.

It was my first time on EK F Suite. Flew 5 sectors on both the A388 and 77W.

Comparing all 5 EK flights to the 1 SQ Suite flight, I still feel that SQ is ahead of EK for the following reasons:

1) Food offerings. True, EK has more variety, but very few items are to my liking I find SQ's menu more to my taste. Could be a cultural thing though.

Also, the presentation and plating are more polished on SQ compared to EK. Although I do like latter's bread basket Quality wise, both are equally good.

2) Drinks. SQ wins on quality and variety.

3) Service. EK's service is nice... but they lack that special touch that SQ possesed. Eg. When I bumped into a FA on my exit from the loo, she/he will always asked if I needed a drink or anything at all.

EK's FA will just give me a smile. One has to be more "proactive" on EK for service. But I can understand some people would prefer that to SQ's constant "fawning"

4) Seat. I rate SQ Suite > EK Suite > SQ New F. I truly enjoy the spaciousness of the SQ Suite, even with the doors closed. Nothing beats watching a movie in bed I don't care for the shiny wood grain and gold fittings in EK Suites.

I also find it awkward to have drink when the table is not deployed. The FA will place the drink just in front of the screen, which blocks the view. There doesn't seem to be space for drinks just next to the seat.

Plus the fact that the duvet and blankets are stored just behind the seat feels abit "self-service" to me

5) IFE. I find both Krisworld and ICE equally good. Yes EK does have more contents, but in terms of what I want to watch or listen to, I can't fault SQ. Having more stuff that I'm not interested in doesn't make it better
