Interesting report on the trains there! The 1 hr delay is nothing compared to our KTM trains back home

That's why I actually haven't taken a KTM train in over 25 years

Funny you should mention that - I'm actually going to book a Thalys trip from Gare du Nord to Bruxelles Midi and a few days later on to Amsterdam Centraal in a bit. Not sure if i'll choose Comfort 1 (1st) or Comfort 2 (2nd) class - it's not that long if you break it up 1:22 PAR-BRU, 1:53 BRU-AMS - maybe save the cash for something else

I've been thinking of doing a mini Eurotrip (3 countries including France) by train with the Eurorail pass sometime next year and was wanting to try out the TGV from Paris-Lyons just for the experience of taking the TGV. Can the TGV be used with the Eurorail pass or is that separate?

The Eurorail pass is valid for the TGV but you should check the prices of the tickets for each trip. Certain express direct routes are also excluded.
The Eurorail pass may not be the cheapest if you are looking at only a few cities.

I think that you should still write up your SQ TRs even though there are many here already! After all, there is no limit as to what one will experience during his/her travels

Of course, don't overburden yourself and write a TR for every trip you have.. write as you wish and I can assure you that I will enjoy them

I was looking at some of the photos of the seats and realize there aren't any seat belts! Shouldn't there be seat belts in a train that travels at the equivalent of 162 knots ground speed I've never been in a high-speed train before, so I do not know the standards about that.

Now that you mention it, I think the Shanghai Maglev which reaches a top speed of 431 km/h is also not equipped with seatbelts, but my memory may be failing me!

I took Thalys from Gare du Nord to Rotterdam and it serves good food and champagne as well
