SQFG is cool. Great TR, and above all, different.

Very nice. Felt like I was on the train too. Time to try TGV.

I'm told business class London-Paris serves good food.

        Great one as usual, SQFG!!
It's bring back my memory about my TGV (Thalys) ride from Amsterdam Central to Paris Gare du Nord many years ago...
Thanks for the nice report and pictures...

That's why I actually haven't taken a KTM train in over 25 years

Makes me wanna go on one soon, and sure brings back nice memories of train travel through various parts of Europe during uni vacations, long time ago!
Sure did the same for me

I'm getting to like European Rail a lot

Funny you should mention that - I'm actually going to book a Thalys trip from Gare du Nord to Bruxelles Midi and a few days later on to Amsterdam Centraal in a bit. Not sure if i'll choose Comfort 1 (1st) or Comfort 2 (2nd) class - it's not that long if you break it up 1:22 PAR-BRU, 1:53 BRU-AMS - maybe save the cash for something else

Interesting TR. I remember having the model TGV sud-est when I was a couple of decades younger, and when it had the orange livery.

I've been thinking of doing a mini Eurotrip (3 countries including France) by train with the Eurorail pass sometime next year and was wanting to try out the TGV from Paris-Lyons just for the experience of taking the TGV. Can the TGV be used with the Eurorail pass or is that separate?

The Eurorail pass is valid for the TGV but you should check the prices of the tickets for each trip. Certain express direct routes are also excluded.
The Eurorail pass may not be the cheapest if you are looking at only a few cities.

I think that you should still write up your SQ TRs even though there are many here already! After all, there is no limit as to what one will experience during his/her travels

Of course, don't overburden yourself and write a TR for every trip you have.. write as you wish and I can assure you that I will enjoy them

Thanks for this TR, had a bit of a 'train' trip myself recently. Gotta finish this bloody OSL TR before the 1 year anniversary... which is fast approaching..

Why are we all suddenly ditching planes for trains?!

                    [QUOTE=SQflyergirl;130220]You mean 410km/h right?

The construction of the Maglev line linking Shanghai to Hangzhou has just been approved. When it is operational, the top speed will be some 450km/h.
In the meantime, the high speed train between these two cities may not be that fast ...

Now that you mention it, I think the Shanghai Maglev which reaches a top speed of 431 km/h is also not equipped with seatbelts, but my memory may be failing me!

                          Nice report, thank you!

I was expecting F to be a little bit more... luxurious!

I took Thalys from Gare du Nord to Rotterdam and it serves good food and champagne as well

                            Loved the experience!

No, I meant 140 kmh. Really. And barely at that.

I think you should do a TR from / to Berlin's Hauptbahnhof to see what a real train station is supposed to be like.
Agreed. Berlin Hauptbahnhof (tief) is nothing short of an architectural wonder~
