My virgin SQ talk post! After reading all the mouthwatering trip reports, I thought I'd post a much delayed first trip report.( more than 9 months after the trip heehe)

Since it was my birthday and i was flying solo, I decided to treat myself to my first "C" experience! ( no thanks to the SQtalk trip report section, which has thoroughly spoilt me with its many photos of SQ C)

Since I'd purchsed flexi fare econ, it was a snap to upgrade the outgoing sector online. However, it was only nailbitingly close to my departure date ( and a few calls to the SQ hotline) before i managed to confirm my return flight upgrade! yipee!

I was really excited in the lead up to the trip, and finally, departure date was here!

    Date: 19 Oct 09
    Flight: SQ 269 (A330-300)
    Seat: 11D

Check in was a breeze, and after saying goodbye to a friend, I headed to the SQ silverkris lounge. It was jam packed!!
Lounge food wasn't very appetising, and mostly asian. I was impressed by the large selection of TWG teas though.

(note: above photos show the lounge misleadingly empty as I tried to be as discreet as possible when i took the pics. hehe)

Was rather glad to leave the overcrowded lounge.time for boarding!
Was one of the first to board, and ta daa! there was my seat at 11D. I didn't manage to have a good look at the (then) new regional C seats, but the width was really impressive.I was also glad for the extra roominess of the first row.

settling in for a glass of champagne predeparture, whilst the rest of C and Y trickled in *guilty look*

    IFE! really nice large screens!

    obligatory leg room shot *ahem*

Offers to top up the champagne were of course accepted ( who could say no to that?) as i settled in for the flight.
A middle aged lady ( businesswoman) was sitting in the seat next to me, and she raised the privacy divider as she read through some powerpoint presentation handouts.

    THE FOOD!

having heard sooo much about the BTC lobster, there was no way I was going to miss out on that! However, i was a little apprehensive as I had read about how small some of the lobsters could be .

    Thankfully, I wasn't dissapointed!

It was huge! and the saffron flavoured rice was delicious! My only compliant was that the asparagus was rather overcooked. But that was probably due to the reheading.

Next up was tea! Here is a shot of the TWG tea selection

and i chose the breakfast earl gray. Which strangely came in a large mug. And i also had to ask for sugar to go with it.

After which, I spent the rest of the flight in a champage/food induced coma....

WIll psot more pics of the seats in my next post on the return flight. Comments for improvements will be much appreciated.

            Welcome to SQTalk, shen80.
            Thanks for the nice TR.

I thought BTC Lobster is only available in F !
            And slipper lobster in J.
Did you BTC online or thru the call centre?
F all the way. Settle for J. Usually whY. Sigh.

                thanks guys!

trekkie: only managed one cup of tea. Sleep wasn't fantastic though, ended up feeling either too hot or too cold. I don't think the seat was to blame.

SQJunkie: my bad, its the slipper lobster. Can't really tell the difference tastewise though, and it doesn't taste like crayfish either. I booked through the call center, simple and quick!

                  Regional C: ADL-SIN

Before i knew it, my short 5 day visit to adelaide was over. Arrived at the airport with not much time to spare. In a hurry to check in, I forgot to declare my tax free purchases, and thus forfeited my tax rebates! Argh!

                  Date: 24 Oct 09
                  Flight: SQ 268 (A330-300)
                  Seat: 11C

The waiting area was packed, and since I cleared immigration with not much time to spare, decided against visiting the lounge and hung around the packed boarding gate. Not many seats available, so I had to stand. Finally, time to board!

snapped whilst boarding. I spy SQ cargo in the background...

Side view of the lovely new seats and generous legroom in row 11.

More seat views and the control panel. I did have some difficulty fiddling with the control panel in fligh. sometimes its much easier to go with the default settings rather than adjusting individually methinks.

More obgligatory legroom shots. I do have very long legs, but i managed to stretch out fully without feeling cramped at all.

As we taxiied out. Adelaide city in the background. Its a really small town!

whats that on the airport field???

                  Qantas landing whilst we waited...

my favorite part of the flight. More please!

                    and now, to the food!

                    Starter
Fresh seasonal salad with smoked salmon and potato

                    Main
Stewed lamb in red wine sauce, roasted assorted vegetables and mashed potatoes

This wasn't very impressive, meat was rather tasteless...

                    Finale

                    Pear crumble

My favorite part of the meal. However, since warm crumble should always be accompanied by ice cream, the steward was nice enough to get me a second serving of dessert to accompany the pear crumble :

Tiramisu ice cream drizzled with vanilla sauce
                    yummy!!!

                    and to end off:

                    TWG

Again, either because of all the food and the champage, was induced into another food/alcohol coma. Thankfully I was revived in time for the refreshment (which was alot better than the main course for lunch I must add)

                    To Nibble On
Penne pasta topped with wagyu beef bolognese and grated fresh parmesan cheese

                    simple, yummy and very comforting!

And there ends my first full experience on SQ C ( or any C for that matter). How can I every go back to Y again? *wistful sigh*

                      Thanks for sharing.

BTC lobster portions certainly look bigger from ADL.

Love the aerial views of ADL on take off.
