Boarding by priority. Parents with infants, PPS etc

Prior to take off, I told the FA I would skip supper. Save my BTC till I wake up.

    The Supper Menu

    Starter
Seared ahi tuna, assorted heirloom tomato, baby arugula, choice of sesame or aged balsamic dressing

    Main
Grilled salmon with potatoes, grilled onions, haricot verts and chopotle puree

    Rendang daging
Malay style braised beef in spices and coconut milk served with seasonal vegetables and coconut rice

Roast muscovy duck with black cherries, braised red cabbage, green beans, carrot and gratinated potato

    Char siew mee
Egg noodle in rich pork broth with honey glaced pork, chye sim and mushroom

    Finale
Ben & Jerry's banana and walnut ice cream with chunky chocolate cookies and bitter chocolate sauce

Vanilla creme brulee with berry compote

Old chartham hudson valley camembert, tomme idyllic putney vermont and danish blue
Served with dried apricot, grapes and biscuit

    Fresh fruits in season

I don't remember anything ( the take off, when did I convert my seat to bed mode?, supper service ) until I woke up here...

.. then I went back to sleep and woke up here...

..whereupon I had my BTC short rib..

... and something from the Light Bites menu

    Fried rice and satay

For the full works supper, I would suggest you eat supper after take off, then sleep.

    Light Bites Menu

    To Nibble On
Kuay teow soup with fish ball and minced pork

Macaroni and cheese with fried chicken

Fried rice with shrimp and chicken served with chicken satay

Then back to bed and woke up for breakfast as we approached the Bay of Bengal

      Bhutan!

      My TR..Weekend in Bhutan

Last year, shortly after returning from Bhutan, I took SQ22 to EWR

The A319 I flew to Bhutan carries more passengers than the A345

      Breakfast Menu

      Prelude
A choice of apple, tomato or freshly squeezed orange juice

      Sliced fresh fruit

      Starter
      Choice of cereals or yoghurt
Cornflakes or raisin bran with milk

      Plain or fruit yoghurt

      Main
Fillet of beef, madeira sauce, truffled polenta, roasted artichoke

      Singapore roti prata
Fried Indian flat bread served with chicken curry
      A popular local dish

Chinese style snapper in ginger and spring onion sauce served with braised beancurd with wolfberries, bok choy and steamed rice

Scrambled egg served with broiled bacon, roasted tomato, sauteed mushroom and roesti potato

      Breads
Freshly baked breads served with butter and preservatives

      Beverages
Gourmet coffees & selection of fine teas

      My breakfast selections..

Very big portion of fruit. Exceptionally sweet and juicy..

Roti Prata!! You can take me out of Singapore, but you can't take Singapore out of me!!

Before I knew it, we were on final approach.

      Another good landing..

And that's how you should fly on the A345

          Conclusions

SQ21/22 remain my favorite SQ flights

          A technological marvel

In order to take full advantage, the secret is to sleep as much as you can on board

          The bed is great

Hit the ground fresh and ready to go...

              So clever!

Not asking someone in the middle of their TR if it is finished is very good manners.

Which is why, rather than wait for you to finish this...

              Venice

I flew there to see the place myself.

              And produced this...

              3 days in Venice

But thanks for planting the idea in my mind

We shopped till 6pm on the day of our departure. Then had dinner at Thomas Keller's Bouchon in Time-Warner Centre.

Lovely views of Columbus Circle while we dined. The chocolate soufflé is to die for.
In the interests of research, some pictures of the meal are a requisite Kyo+ request...

                    Time-Warner Centre

My favorite place in New York: Time Warner Centre, Columbus Circle

New York home to CNN, Mandarin Oriental, Thomas Keller..

Thomas Keller ( of French Laundry fame ) has opened 2 outlets here:
                    1. Per Se: more formal, jacket required
                    2. Bouchon: casual dining

Concierge at GH New York managed to get us a table at Per Se last year.
Regret I forgot to bring my camera but the meal was outstanding.

Bouchon is more suitable when we travel with our kids.
Located under the Samsung sign, it overlooks the impressive atrium of Time Warner Centre...

...it also has great views of Columbus Circle

                    Bouchon

We stayed on 53rd Street / 7th Avenue so we ate here everyday for lunch or dinner

                    Starters

                    Beet & cherries soup. Superb!

                    Paté & toast. Also outstanding.

                    Mains

Wife's lobster salad. Dressing was too sour

                    My tuna sandwich.

                    Dessert

                    Chocolate soufflé..

.. with real vanilla sauce. This is why we come here every visit to NYC

Simple fare but the ingredients are what's special about the food. Quality!

Great supermarket ( Whole Foods ) in the basement.

                      Serendipity 3

Located on 60th Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenue, we come here with the kids

You need to go early, before it opens, to avoid queues. Taken after lunch..

I must say the Chilli Dog and Frozen Hot Chocolate are outstanding.

And Dylan's Candy Store at the corner is a bonus. Dylan is Ralph Lauren's daughter..

I'm glad to see that Serendipity still lives up to its reputation for guilty (food) pleasures. I miss that place. Heck, I miss NYC.

Thanks, 9V-SIA, for an amazing trip report.

I've always wondered about this unique flight. Now, thanks to your incredibly detailed and well put together report, I almost feel like I have flown it myself.

I'm not quite sure I understand what frozen hot chocolate is. Something along the same lines as "US Intelligence", or "McDonalds Restaurants" perhaps?

                              It looks absolutely delicious, but

I just wonder why it is different in SIN from EWR?

Michelin has their ranking system: 1, 2 or 3 star

Mine is simpler. When you take a bite of something mundane ( chilli dog ), stop chewing and think.. "Wow, what am I eating?! This is fantastic!".

This is my equivalent of Michelin 3 stars!

I'm still trying to figure out how the frozen hot chocolate is made. Better than any ice chocolate, chocolate milk shake or sundae. Just brilliant again IMHO

                                Because at SIN...

either there's no wait in the holding room and pax just stream onto the plane from security

or they use 2 bridges to board so there is no queue. Besides, there are at most 100 pax.
