The weather in Seoul is totally brutal since the first day of my visit. If you heard my last word about the temperature (-8 degrees on my touch down in Seoul, it really deteriorated for the next 6 days. The worst temperature was the following day up til the last day which only got up a few degrees -20, -18, -10.. and mostly below zero). You shouldn't go to Seoul in Winter unless you really bare with snow. Anyway, this is the view from the car on my way to Incheon International Airport. As I stayed at my uncle's apartment who works as a pilot for Asiana at around Gimpo Airport. It usually take 30 minutes to Incheon but that day it took more than an hour, as we welcomed the blizzard in the morning.

It was -20 degrees in the morning

Finally we arrived at Incheon International Airport

Alright, this is a few pictures taken from Incheon International Airport

This is Garuda Indonesia Check In Counter

I was actually asking them to put me in economy that time, so that I can make a economy class trip report on Garuda Indonesia, but Mr. Gerry the Korean staff of Garuda Indonesia that time told me that i must've been put in business. So ya, I took that offer. Oh for your information, I also traveled with my cousin (my uncle's daughter) who's also going back to Jakarta and we both are placed in Business Class.

I checked in myself at the same time with Garuda Indonesia's crews that'd just stayed for one night at Lotte Hotel Seoul.

    Flight Departures Information

My boarding pass had been proceeded, and they told me we must ran to gate 108 where the plane parked as it's just 20 minutes away. It's a very long way to get to Gate 108, we must get downstairs to catch the subway to Terminal 2.

After seeing some stuff in the Duty Free Shop, we headed to Gate 108 where our plane's parked.

    View from the waiting room

Once we arrived at the waiting room, I looked outside through the window and seemingly the weather got even worse. I don't how to say it for once somehow I had a feeling the flight would've been delayed.

Look at those snow cover some parts of the fuselage.

Finally at 10:05 am LT boarding process started.

    My Way..

Oh, not to mention to inform that today's flight in charge by my dad's friends. Both of them!! (You'll see a surprise later)

We're happy that we're able to board the plane then. It's like the start of our journey. We're greeted very warmly by a charming lady (purser II) who apparently is also related to my family. (Whatta small world). I recognized her cute voice and attentiveness. She greeted my name cheerfully like "Hello Good Morning Mr. Danang" and I replied her "Hi, Good Morning" hehe this is how I always greet or call them whenever I'm on board. I feel Garuda is my home.

      My Seat 5A

My chair is upright, but I think the green light was down. hehe. Oops.

And I'm sure the flight must be delay.

Before 10:35 am all passengers had been on board. The door was closed right then, but we never pushed back. I presumed we're waiting for taxi clearance. Thick snow mostly cover the taxi way and runway.

A moment later, the first purser in charge made an announcement. "Good Morning Ladies and Gentleman, on behalf of Garuda Indonesia, Captain Eddy Sutanto and the rest of cabin attendant, We'd like to Welcome you on board GA 879 destination Jakarta. The flight to Jakarta is 6 hours and 50 minutes"

As waiting before push back, the safety demonstration was made manually.

        It's 11:05 am, we're pushing back.

        Poor Marshaller

We're taxiing out, and I thought "Oh it's just one hour delay" but it came not to my expectation that our dear captain made another announcement that we're lining up for De-Icing Process that is compulsory to every plane before take off. To prevent any fatalities during take off. And we already know Incheon is a busy airport, and they only have limited facilities to De-ice 4 planes at the same time. So that, the line up and De-Ice process took for about 1 Hour. [&:] One of the captain came to the cabin to meet us.

And our De-Icing Process began. Next to us were Korean Air, Thai Airways, and Air France.

Okay, this time we'd done the De-Icing Process and we're taxiing to runway 33L

Okay now, we're taking off smoothly, and we flying awaaayy! (finally [8D])

We're taking off at 13:05 pm LT Seoul time, eventhough it's windy but they made it smooth, and we got some heavy turbulence during the climb-out.

Since we had been grounded inside the plane for a long time, seems like the cabin crew realized that most of passengers were hungry already. So they rushed and prepared for our long lunch instantly...

Lunch Appetitezer, Sashimi Salmon with Cheese. OH MY GOD. YUMMY.

          Wanna bite?

Main Course. I'm running out of choice Bimbim Bap and either fish. So I got the chicken. (haha sengaja sih kayaknya.. gak bayar full fare sih.. hehe purser nya pun confirmed hahahaha tp santai lah.. It's not a big deal) I don't like the taste truthfully speaking. Though the wedges taste great!. I drank lotsa wine during flight.

Okay, now it's time for Flight Entertainment Review.
I'm so disappointed that the movie and song options were not updated since IT'S JANUARY and I hate it when my personal screen sorta froze and not working until the Purser restarted the program.

JigSaw Puzzle Souvenir for Juniors. I voluntarily asked to be given for my little cousin.

Serving time is done. And the cabin light were dimmed by Mood Lighting until It's completely dark. I only slept for 45 minutes and couldn't ever go back to sleep, so I went to galley and as usual using this time to chat and joke with the Cabin Crews. haha there always be new jokes and laughs. I went to self service snack counter and good to know every snack's stacked there.

We call it "Place before High Mile Club" HAHAHAHAHA.

I returned to my seat listening to music player which has no good songs as my favorites. They're all random like the singer, the songs, and the ERA. (Mostly are old singers Golden 8 Generation!) My cousin even complaining the same thing, she was helped out by the Game options which are quiet entertaining. The captain returned and visiting us to chat for a bit. We're almost awakened as we're starting to sleep. He let us sleep, but I said I couldn't and I was bored... And I had an Idea to visit them on the cockpit, and they said yes. hehehe. *(Thank you Om.. hehe)

So.. these are the pictures from the cockpit.. Hope you'll like it, guys! Too bad I left my SLR in Jakarta.

I promise I'll be here one day

I stayed in the cockpit for a while. We're talking stuff about how my family have been doing, and my education progress. And until one of the cabin crew called me that they've started delivering Ice Cream. YEAAAY, I returned to my seat. It's one hour and 20 minutes to land.

I switched my wrist watch to Jakarta's local time. (2 hours behind) and It's 30 minutes before landing we started our descent from FL 40,000. Captain had announced the order "Cabin Crew Prepare for Landing" and they worked to clear the cabin instantly such as collecting all the unused dishware, collecting the headphones (they are seriously not letting pax to steal them away hehe) and checking all passengers seats.

The speed brake released to help the plane reduce speed and altitude.

The plane were getting through the route flying over north coast of Java, and we made straight to runway 25R

Air Asia and Mandala from Terminal 3 which now made runway 25R 07L traffic gets even crowded

                  5....4....3....2....1.... touch down!

The landing was smooth!! *Clapping hands* Bravo Garuda's Pilot. They really train every pilot to land the plane smoothly in every situation.

Great report. It really was terrible weather in Korea! So out of place for the Garuda aircraft that is more used to tropical climates hehehe.

Hope to see more reports soon about Garuda.

Interesting TR and pics. Thanks for sharing.

I do not think I would be tempted out of the cockpit so easily with ice-cream.
