        Boat trip!

So, we took the boat out over two days to visit and inspect the islands and resorts of Lang Tengah, Perhentian Besar and Perhentian Kecil.

Our boat is the first one on the left

Paying a very reasonable rate for unlimited usage per day (special deal negotiated with the resort), we took one of the fantastic powerful mid-size boat used for paragliding with a fantastic Captain piloting the boat.

Seas were quite choppy (as always, it's the nature of the South China Sea).

One peculiar feature of the islands on the east coast were its geological composition. Most islands on the west coast of Peninsula Malaysia as well as Borneo comprise of limestone - not so with these islands where granite faces welcome anyone who strayed and gets caught in the shallow waters.

        Granite faces - Redang Island

First stop was Lang Tengah Island, approximately 30 minutes from the resort pontoon where we departed.

        Lang Tengah Island

        Assessment:
Beautiful coral island but the crap of the crap accommodation. Broken timber walkways, blatant pouring of concrete and just plain indecency. Beach was nice but lots of broken corals - not suitable for swimming at all. Very shallow beach means that one has to walk a long way out into the waters over broken dead corals to be able to swim.

We dropped by the other side of Redang Island (Pasir Panjang / Long Beach), where all of the other resorts on Redang is. It's a stunning long beach with azure waters and powder white sand, but the hordes of cheap tourists and masses of boats anchored directly in front of the bay was just bad.

Had a drink at the Coral Redang Resort bar where the following few pictures were taken.
