  • Snel rapport: Welkom aan boord met KLM in nieuw 77W: CGK-KUL new J

Greetings - a quick express TR I thought I'd share with you here.

Had the opportunity to go visit Jakarta the other day, and thought - well, KLM's got themselves a pair of new 777-300ER's and are using it from AMS to CGK via KUL. There is a stop in KUL both ways, and KL has rights to sell the KUL-CGK-KUL legs. At 243 USD in Z class one way CGK-KUL all in, i thought it was excellent value. My MH account needed a small boost too (so let's kill two birds with one e-ticket)

I'm always up for something new, so why not eh?

KL operates out of terminal 2E in Cengkareng.

Our ride today: PH-BVB, the newer of the 2 that KLM currently has. They run these new birds out to MNL and of course KUL/CGK

Seats: ( I do not know if this is what they call NEV, but it was quite comfy nonetheless)

    Legroom's good. Legs less so.

Lots of adjustments available in this seat

I like: In Z loungeing position, footrest goes horizontal, although bed is a slopey job though.

No room for mag rack up the front, so thoughtfully placed by the side

      Entertainment

It's full avod on this new bird:

Rather basic flightmap though: was just this screen and the map

Noise reduction headphones are handed out: a tad small

Choices fairly up to date, with good variety

but at 1 hour 50 minutes, no time for a full movie for me tonight, so - it's back to my favourite springfield family!

      Verdict:

Good choices, VERY responsive avod system: press once, and it goes, doesn't lag or hang.

        Nice pictorial of their fleet:

Looks like someone needs some fleet consolidation

Simple two choice meal: fish or chicken. This is the chicken. Not very good, but the cheesecake dessert was superb

Skirting the west of singapore, we've covered the 700 odd miles rather quickly

And this is what we came here for: The delft houses! They asked if I was going on to AMS, and when i said no, they presented a choice: Here is mine

So overall - I'd have to say it was decent, though not overly spectacular. The new J seats are massive step over the previous ones I used to fly, and the AVOD is a real treat to use.

Crew could have been a little friendlier: they were nowhere near SQ material, but I'd expect that, although the senior purser did come up and introduce himself to everyone in J.

At the price I paid, I can't complain really. It's nice having an alternative to indonesia that's for sure

        dank u for reading

I guess not all 77Ws are created equal!

Didn't know KL flies 77W to CGK.
I thought it is 772s serving this route.

            Thanks for sharing, SQfg.

The food looks so unappetizing. It's no wonder I go for Indonesian food when I find myself in Amsterdam.

Thanks for the TR, SQfg. KL is actually a well-priced option for my LHR-MNL runs, and I've been curious about their cabins.

What's that next to the chicken?
                It's bigger than the main!!!

Did you manage to get a shot of the Y cabin?
Wonder what 3-4-3 seating looks like on 77W...

                Thanks for sharing

Thanks, SQFG. Brings back some nice memories waaaaaay before they merged with AF.

Great TR as usual SQFG! Its good knowing that KLM also plies the KUL-CGK route. Any idea how frequent though?

Used to be the 772's, but they started this late last year i think.

Yeah, didn't taste particularly nice either.... but these days, price is king!

No shots of the Y cabin, a bit shy to whip out the camera - but the 3-4-3 looked pretty cramped though. The thing next to the chicken was some sort of fish. I think. Maybe. Possibly. Who knows?

For one moment, when the FA laid it all out for me to choose from, I was actually THINKING of running more on KLM just to collect these little pieces of real estate......

As mentioned above, KL's 77W's are configured 3-4-3.

Not sure how often. Could very well be daily. No idea to be honest.

I'm surprised they still hand them out. Wondering if the gin inside is still the same...

                            nice TR, nevertheless
